December 31, 201015 yr I have a question for those who own this product. I have to say that I have been disappointed in the FeelThere products I have bought in the past, even though one of them also won an AVSIM Gold Star. Little but annoying things like photo enhanced panels showing switches that are not clickable, (even if it doesn't function it's still nice to be able to click it!) significant discrepancies between the 2D and 3D cockpits, gaps in textures in the panel where you can see daylight etc. I have to say that the review was extremely well-written and seems trustworthy but having been burned before, can anyone tell us if they think the product really does live up to the Gold Star award?IanFor the same reasons you mentioned and because of night lighting and more i don't think it even deserves a silver star award.IF the thing gets a golden star award what should proper planes ( pmdg, leveld ) get ?
January 1, 201115 yr I have to agree that this review while exceptional, is a little too positive and I don't believe the product is up to the Gold Star award either. For the reasons above as well as the cheesy 2D guidance panel that glows like it's radioactive even when set to cold and dark. The virtual cockpit textures are not nearly up to par with other top end developers. The PMDG J41 and the CS707 VC put the E-Jets to shame. Its a nice jet but it certainly has some warts and is no a Gold Star candidate in my book but of course this is my opinion. RE Thomason Jr.

If after reading the review and judging the pros and cons of the material mentioned in he review, I either concur or deny the review a Gold Star. Since we have done away with the 1-5 star rating (where all "good" products would theoretically rate 3 stars), we only have the 1 "award". Since there is no such thing as a perfect peice of software (at least not yet), this award is subjective. The award is meant to bring the product to the readers attention, more so than other products. Too bad we can't award a "golden lemon" to some products, as that would just be unfair to the developers, after all they did the best they could. Robert WhitwellReviews Editor[email protected]

January 2, 201115 yr LOL, imagine someone writing un a review:This aircraft is so horrible, ive notified the ReviewsEditor to uninstall this product from his system and give it the golden lemon!!
January 3, 201115 yr Good detailed review...butHow did the feelThere ERJ-175/195 get a GOLD AWARD??? It is not ground breaking with a very poor virtual-cockpit and a mediocre model.and Why did the Orbx's Lancair IV-P not get this award with it's stunning model/virtual-cockpit and terrific dynamics.Still wondering...Darryl

It's my opinion that a candidate or nomination should be voted on by all of your Senior Staff reviewers with a majority rule on the award thus limiting the subjectivity of the award. I actually bought the product based on the review. I already had the ERJ V2 package and had, up until this point, held off on buying the E-Jet V2 package because I felt like it was going to be too similar to the ERJ. While I like the ERJ I thought there was enough lacking with it to warrant the decision to pass on the E Jets. Then I read the review on it and it got me interested enough to pull the trigger and buy. My rational was that it must be an improvement over the ERJ since it's newer and the ERJ V2 never got the "gold star" back when it was reviewed last Jan by Marlon Carter. Well that was my mistake, I should have held off because my initial skepticism was correct. While the E-jets is a nice plane it's nothing extraordinary. I don't feel like it's any better than the ERJ package and certainly not deserving of the "Gold Star" which should only be awarded to software that can be recommended without reservation as the pinnacle of simulation titles. It's my opinion that a candidate or nomination should be voted on by all of your Senior Staff reviewers with a majority rule on the award thus limiting the subjectivity of the award. There are heaps of software titles to be reviewed here at AVSIM, thats no joke - some date back to April. If us reviewers (or even just the senior staff) got the products everybody recieved, the reviewers would never have to buy a part of software again and would be flying in the sim non-stop.

It's my opinion that a candidate or nomination should be voted on by all of your Senior Staff reviewers with a majority rule on the award thus limiting the subjectivity of the award. That's impossible. We can't all judge a product because most of us don't have the product. So, if we were to judge if the rating were valid, we'd have to get it. You can't expect us reviewers to spend cash on something just to say if it's worth a gold star or not, and you can't expect developers to give away twenty free copies of a product. Plus, there's a time problem. If we all have to judge a product, we'll all have to assess it for ourselves and see how good it really is - as if all of us write a review about it. That costs heaps of time that can be much better spent on other products.Seriously, democracy is a good thing, but there are situations where it's not practical at all. January 4, 201115 yr Seriously, democracy is a good thing, but there are situations where it's not practical at all.Imo, maybe you should consider going back to the 1-3 star ratings for payware and keep the golden star for freeware ? As it is it's a bit "deceiving". I mean. When I see a golden star award I immediately think the addon is a top addon (pmdg,leveld...).Vic
January 5, 201115 yr I wouldn't classify it as a problem, rather then an annoyance, is that the click point to open the cockpit windows is the window itself. The CS757 and 767 also has this same issue. I like to keep a small ATC window in the upper left corner of the VC, which I can use the mouse to answer ATC. If I miss click the result is the window opening at FL350. What's interesting is the window is the click point while the handle of it is not. Seems backwards to me. January 29, 201115 yr Very good review indeed. It's always hard to make a wealth of information fit into some interesting and entertaining text lines, decorated with some pictures. I see this being a perfect example of how it's done.Regarding the award, I fully agree to use it on this product as one has to see all the features and variants offered, the detail level given and the actual price point of that thing. Hard to beat at 40 bucks, really, really hard. So the value is high and I would absolutely insist on that star if it wasn't already there.Personal preference might differ but this package can cope with the big names in the business while staying at least 30 to 50% below their prices. Well done.
January 30, 201115 yr ...Personal preference might differ but this package can cope with the big names in the business while staying at least 30 to 50% below their prices. Well done.Personal preference but I don't really think feeltheirs stuff can cope with the big names if by big names you mean leveld, pdmg.Even if they cost less.FT planes are partly unfinished and they will prob will never get fixed.Support is what it is...To make a long story short I'd rather pay $80 for a well done addon than buying their stuff.I bought the erjs and the busses but I don't think I'll buy anything off them anymore.V.
