December 18, 201015 yr Hi all! I am tired of the default AI in FSX. What add-on AI programs do you use? How do they affect frame rates, and do they look nice? Thanks for any help!! I tried some PAI and some World of AI, but have had problems. It was a while ago, so I cannot remember the problems exactly. Is there good payware traffic available? If you are sold on World of AI or PAI, perhaps you can sell me on that again. I am running some of the ORBX sceneries and would hope that any of the programs would follow whatever changes they have made to airports. Thanks for any help.Don
December 18, 201015 yr Hi, I use My Traffic X, and I can't say enough good things about it. There has been almost no drop in frames at busy airports. I just flew into Amsterdam and had airlines from all over there really interesting to look at. During the installation MTX will ask if you want to remove default AI. I am like you, I hated the default ai planes and had them removed. For further info on MYX go here: http://secure.simmarket.com/b.-renk-mytraffic-x-pro.phtmlYou will be very pleasedBob
December 18, 201015 yr Moderator Hi Don.I'm not sure how many replies you will get since this question is asked so often and probably a lot of people may get tired of repling to the same question. However, I use Ultimate Traffic 2 for a variety of reasons, but I also use some WOAI mixed in as well, and some custom traffic I made myself. UT2 has served me well and the FPS hit is minimal even when running it at 100% traffic density. There really is no best AI package as My Traffic X and Ultimate Traffic are two completely different syled products and work differently as well. My Traffic X is a traditional bgl based traffic program and UT2 uses simconnect to inject or place traffic where it should be at a given time. My Traffic AI fly from point A to point B directly like bgl AI do, while UT2 traffic actually fly a route based on aa realworld flight plan. My Traffic X places airlines at airports that may not really get those airlines in real life, while UT2 airtraffic is based off of real world schudules that they use to place the correct airtraffic at the correct airports. If you do a search here you will find many posts on the same question, even as recently as last week when someone else asked the same question. My advice would be to look at the websites of each product and make a comparison for yourself. Either way you go they are both good products and will give good FPS when compared to the default traffic. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 18, 201015 yr Author Thanks guys. I appreciate your replies. I will look up these two. I would rather have r/w airlines in the places they belong at. Most of my flying is out in the bush. It is nice though, when I have to fly "into town" that the traffic I see is what should be there! Again, thank you for the answers and your time.Don
December 19, 201015 yr I have tried two AI packages......JustFlight Traffic X - forget about this one. The framerates might be good, but AI airliners land and stop at major airports inside 200 metres! They also tend to "belly flop" onto runways, and the models are adequate at best.Ultimate Traffic 2 - the AI package that I currently use, and it's brilliant. The performance hit is greater than Traffic X, but the plane models are superb for an AI package, the planes take off and land a lot more realistically, and they use real world schedules and flight routes! The latter point is interesting, because I have always previously liked AI planes with random flight times (this is what I was used to in Flight Unlimited 3). However, the real world schedules in UT2 make the AI environment so much more believable, and it makes a massive difference to the overall atmosphere. December 19, 201015 yr My Traffic X places airlines at airports that may not really get those airlines in real life,That's only true where an airport is very empty due to there not being a lot of traffic at an airport in real life too, many MyTraffic X customers complain if AI densities are low at an airport so Burkhard generates extra traffic over and above the real world schedules that he uses, which are now very extensive and pretty current. Cheers, Andy.

Great program with free updates and their support forum is first class. Wouldn't fly without it.Bob G. UT2 injects traffic shortly before departure time. This means if you fly late at night, when most real world aircraft are sitting at the gate awaiting the morning departures, UT2 won't even generate them until a short time before departure. This results in rather deserted airports late at night. The other issue, and the most annoying issue I have with UT2, is often as I pushback, once I vacate the gate an AI plane will be injected in it's place, while I'm still waiting to taxi. Most unrealistic! That's why I only use UT2 for when I record videos. I normally use WOAI, but the recording software I use GameCam has a problem with FS9 modeled aircraft which WOAI uses, so I use UT2 instead for my videos. There are not enough parking spots available with the AFCAD being used so when you push UT2 will populate the parking spot. If you update your AFCAD this problem can be fixed. The only other remedy is to turn the traffic level down to 70% or lower. Jim Wenham

December 20, 201015 yr Sorry to threadjack, but I'm also looking at AI traffic programs and had a quick question. Can I combine the WOAI traffic I've been using so far with the MTX/UT2 software or is it better to unistall it all and use one or the other? Thanks!
December 20, 201015 yr It's been five days since I downloaded UT2 and it's been five days since I have had any AI aircraft around. I know that I will be hit up by the UT2 a really excited user saying "You're crazy! It works great for me." Hey that's great for you but I have been trying everything that's recommended in their forums. Nothing! I posted a specific request for help in the forum as per their instructions. Nothing. I PM'd one of the Flight 1 "customer support" guys and got an email confirmation that he read my request for support. Nothing. I PM'd the other guy this afternoon and hopefully he can help. Their forum for licensed users is full of similar problems. Some of them get solved and some don't. I just feel that $50 is a chunk of money to put out on a product that doesn't work and to my knowledge has non-existent customer support. Here's my smiley face for all of the people who will reply after me and tell me how great UT2 is. I hope it turns out great for me as well but up to this point... NOTHING!
December 21, 201015 yr Not a UT2 a really excited user, though I have it to use if I wanted to work through things. It's different from the other types of traffic programs that are available, both free and payware. But you have up to 30 days to work the kinks out. If you're still having problems, request a refund. One of the nice things about dealing with Flight1.If I was into traffic for FSX as I was for FS9, I'd be tinkering away with UT2. Instead, I just want something flying around, so I went with WOAI and will supplement my own GA traffic from FS9, once I convert the files to FSX format.

NOTHING!2 things to check (if you haven't already!) In UT2's Traffic Options make sure you have traffic enabled. Then check the In Game Settings to ensure you have a reasonable amount of aircraft set to inject. Remember UT2's aircraft do not appear right away when you enter a flight, they will be injected a few minutes later. Generally what you'll notice is FSX will appear to freeze, which may last up to a minute or 2, (it only does this on the initial load!) then the graphics will reset, and you should see the AI aircraft at that point. If your issue is with GA AI, there is an update for that, check the UT2 forums for info on that. December 28, 201015 yr On a related note, I had a quick question about MyTraffic 2010. During installation does it give you an option about whether you want to install GA, military, corporate, and/or airline traffic or does it have to install all of them? Say you want to install only airline and GA traffic, is that possible? Thanks,Al
