February 5, 201115 yr Commercial Member No, I was trying to upgrade FI from "jd" to "je" which was installed in my "custom" location (by custom I mean I specified a different location than the one proposed by FI during the original "jd" install). Basically "je" correctly detected the existing "jd" install but somehow provided an incorrect path to it.The only real way to test this is to do a fresh install using an older build to a custom location, then try and upgrade over the top with a newer build. You'll see straight away the issue!CheersDavidThanks, I'll try testing along those lines. February 5, 201115 yr Hi Steve W, I can't seem to contact you via your email, so i thought I'd post my questions here. First of all I'd like to say your program is fantastic,I love it, but there are some things i can't figure out. 1) Is it possible to save a flight in mid air and then continue it at a later point (or will that be available with version 1.0?) 2) is it possible to have a longer flight with multiple stops (eg: landings along the route selected by the program) 3) how do i get the program to randomly select a departure and destination flight at the same time.(It seems to only select a random destination) Thanks in advance Steve for any help on this. Terry A.
February 5, 201115 yr Commercial Member Thanks for trying IF!1. Save in mid air: choose the "save flight" option in the addons menu under ideal flight. you then get a cd showing in IF airport page to relaunch the save at a later date. it appears on the addon menu too.2. Single flight, get assessment - get next flight, get next assessment. for the time being.3. Only random destinations from where you presenly are can be chosen. At the moment the mode of using IF is set up to do this;Leaving home in a cessna for work at the main airport where you fly a 747 to somewhere and back, then get in your cessna and fly home! But an upgrade for route enhancements like that is already being considered for later.Multi-hop routes will have to be done by visiting IF fort he assessment and generate the next flight for now, but it's a good idea. Many thanks indeed. Best regards; Steve. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 5, 201115 yr Commercial Member 3. You can choose a random airport for your departure in the world map screen from the popup menu.Make it your departure and from the airport screen choose next flight to get your random destination planned and ready!Regards; Steve. February 6, 201115 yr Commercial Member Amazing all purpose program , routing, fuel planning(it also loads the suggested fuel to your aircraft!),weather forecasting and engine, option to choose aircraft state (easy cold and dark) even pilot performance assessment .. also i've noticed that it uses aircrafts in your inventory to populate the route with AI traffic (may be not the best option in the world, frame rate wise i mean, but you have total control over that aspect)
i also like how the flight briefing can be found in the Fsx knee board, with every thing you need for your flight... this means that no juggling between programs is required..which is fantastic especially if you like running FSX in full screen..Its all what you need for a preflight...lovely concept indeed... will be buying a license soon..EDIT: it seems that fuel calculations are off ,a 525 nm flight from EGFF to LFBP in a 757-200 (CS) required 68000 LBs (as per the programs calculations) wich is 90% of the full fuel load of the 757 ,
of course these calculations are highly incorrect..they exceed the calculations of the aircrafts FMC by 48000 (only 20000 LBs is needed for that trip, accounting for 10,000 LBs of reserve) so maybe fuel calculation is not one of its shining points...EDIT2: i was reading the generated flight briefing report and these lines came to my attention :"Fuel Calculation: Disabled; registered copy only395 KTAS = Approximately 245 KIAS @ 29000 ft"so it seem that the calculatins are actually disabled, thats why they felt so inaccurate :DYou have to set the range, cruise speed, and altitude for the aircraft. Generate a flight and fly the route to the letter of the briefing. When you complete the flight you can look at the fuel remaining and mentally calculate what the range should be.Then reset the range and generate the next flight and fly it, you should have a more accurate fuel use.Within one or two flights you will have already started making the most accurate fuel calculations you ever made. You can take these calculations online or on Air hauler routes.Best regards; Steve. February 6, 201115 yr Hi,Steve, I hope you are around. You wont believe what happened. I went to your transaction processor to purchase, and I put in all the info and got a message that the address I put in did not match the bank. Very simple check. I went back and checked the address and I could not see anything wrong, so I tried again, same thing. Our bank is in Washington State but we now live in Houston so I thought maybe the wife changed the address. So I put our Houston info in and it stated again in big red letters, the address does not match. I decided to put in a 9 character zip with the extension same response from the software. So I went back and put in the old address and changed the phone number thinking that was it. Nope same reply. I did this seven times and then used another bank card account as we had 2 accounts at the same bank. That went right through with the original address that I started with and I got the confirmation email. I was a happy camper. I needed to transer now from one account to another since I had to use the other account. Guess what? My original account was charged 7 times. I sent them an email but they will not be open till Monday. I was wondering if you had access to those transactions as I do with my website. If so, maybe you could head this off for me. If not, I will get with them on Monday. The problem is that my account is overdrawn now. By the way, none of those 7 transactions did I receive a confirmation email. Being a software dev for many years, I have a hard time understanding how something like this could leak through their testing plan unless they never thought of creating a "what if" for this situation.Anyways, the good news is that I got my registration and getting ready to do a full flight!!!RegardsBob Officially retired

I don't get involved but I am sure there will be no panic, there is a contact mail there I think. for the payments at Kagi.Just use the one registration! :-)) You should get a refund for the rest.Best regards; Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 6, 201115 yr Commercial Member Hi Bob,Your payment has not come through yet so it looks like they saw your change of address problem and are rectifying as we speak! Well I hope so.Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 6, 201115 yr Commercial Member Seems fine this end. I asume it was the bank end because of the change of address showing a mismatch.Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 6, 201115 yr Finally went ahead and purchased a license and just completed 2 flights. I love the fact that I can set a realistic flight time and most of the hard work is done for me. Right now I'm basically airport hopping. Cool thing is I'm landing/cruising in areas I never paid much attention to. Having your bird "stay" once you logoff is something I enjoy also. Kind of wish or maybe I didn't notice if there is a way to random flight in one direction. What I would like is to do a cross country flight, from VA to CA using 1-2 hour chunks of time making sure to land with airports that provide fuel.

February 6, 201115 yr I have run the free demo. I am confused. Is there a pdf manual? When I loaded the demo, I switched to autopilot. Aircraft kept going off course. I have a headache. I hope there is a step by step guide written someday. Can someone help? I emailed Steve, response is: Perhaps there is more involved. I'm only flying the demo Steve.
