THIS changed FSX for me

Since IF generates the same weather at the same location on the same date and time, you can always go back and do the flight again and have a look around to see what is going on. Also check what the forecast says; overcast 150 miles means it is forecast to be overcast 150 miles away along the route. It would be best to check out the weather system in smaller aircraft at lower altitudes.Steve

Hi All,Just had a little time to fiddle and was wondering where you choose IFR or VFR? Looked through the docs, but I have been accused of missing something before Angel.gif ThanksBob

You can choose IFR or VFR within the Flight Generator page (fourth icon from the top, right side). There are a couple of options for both IFR and VFR - I like them a lot.BTW - before using a plane for the first time, it's always a good idea to check the flight parameters for the plane. Climb rates are most likely to be incorrect (500 feet per minute for the MD87 is funny *g*). But once you corrected them, they will be correct permanently.I am using IF for three weeks now, haven't started FSX a single time without it :-)

Thanks Jean-Jacques, once you have done several flights you will start to see what IF does.IF weather tries to keep things interesting, like normal weather, but fast forward, sort of. :-)Steve

Hi,I started a new profile and generated EGFF - EGNS for the Baron58 all defaults.Weather ReportsLocal: Overcast, Winds Calm, 29.88 inHgEn-Route: Overcast, 10 Nm, Winds NNW Calm, 29.88 inHgDestination: Thunder Storms, Winds NNW 10 Knots, 29.88 inHgForecast: Thunder Storms, Winds NNW 12 Knots, 29.89 inHgWhen I got in the plane the sky looked fairly clear. I placed the plane at 5000 ft in the map. There was a good amount of overcast cloud extending from just 1-2 miles East of Cardiff into the distance going East.I placed the plane over the Isle of Man and there was a thunderstorm going on. Maybe this passes by the time you get there on this route.Steve

Just wanted to run something by you Steve, it may be my installation of FSX.in IF when I click on the FSX Main Menu option (the "X" icon), FSX loads up with what looks like the default flight (Trike, Friday Harbor etc).If I then hit the Fly button in FSX (without changing any parameters), I am transported to the airport and plane last chosen in IF.Is this behaviour deliberate?ThanksDavid
Hi David, i just reread your posts. You should be in the Trike so there is something odd there, maybe it's my fault...You had the install problem too, please try this version http://download.code...up_10_010jh.zipIt's in test and you may find this cures the messing around during installing/updating.If you do ever want to do a fresh install you only need copy your profiles directory and merge it back over the fresh install.View the Data folders with the menu item on the IF popup menu on the startup page. Also see the Explorer button on the Uninstaller.Regards; Steve.

Hi darem,This is a bug in IF, just cured it! Some add-on aircraft have not specified their default climb rates in the config file, and so the values have to be guessed. The guess came out at 500fpm for everything, oops. Please wait for version [ji], and you can recreate the new params from the popup menu in the aircraft params page, or delete the aircraft.ini files to generate a new set.It took a while for the penny to drop. ;-) Thanks very much indeed everyone that spotted this problem.Best regards; Steve

I have run the free demo. I am confused. Is there a pdf manual? When I loaded the demo, I switched to autopilot. Aircraft kept going off course. I have a headache. I hope there is a step by step guide written someday. Can someone help? I emailed Steve, response is: Perhaps there is more involved. I'm only flying the demo Steve.
Hey shelly1995,Since you reported your problem I have been looking around at the coding of the navs.I have found the first VOR on the route is not dialled into the nav, instead it just chooses the closest VOR to the departure. In the next version due shortly, you won't need to tune in the first VOR en-route any more. You can choose which nav is pre-selected in the Cold&Dark page. Nav1=ILS of Destination. Nav2=first VOR en-route.Steve

Just for giggles at my expense, I didn't even realize that the ILS freq. of the likely destination rwy was auto-dialed when the plan loaded. There I was last night, looking through my briefing for the frequency just before starting my approach, only to discover (what the?) that it was clairvoyantly already entered into my NAV1. Little conveniences like that are going to take some getting used to. :(

You would have found the direction is set too! You will find pertinent settings for all the navaids. You can turn that convenience off in Cold&Dark when you want to enter all that nav stuff yourself.Cheers!

Any way to generate the full briefing in larger font? I always have to mouse scroll zoom my browser to be able to read anything.

It's deliberate, in FSX you need it that size to see it. There's even a *smaller" setting. In Internet explorer you can use the page zoom/text size function as normal.Steve

Just taken a flight in the PC12, love that when I start a flight at Valdez the Citation X is parked right next to me.. .. Nice feature .. .. probably doesn't help my frame rates, but I am reluctant to turn it off.....G
