February 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member I'll check it out. Something like this would interest me if it could suggest flights based on the following: 1. Whether I have scenery or AES support 2. If it could suggest airports based on weather. For every flight, I first look at global weather and then decide whether I have airport scenery in the areas where the weather is what I am looking for. After that, I look at destinations that are the proper distance from the origin for the aircraft I want to fly and the time I have available. Of course, whether I have a paint available for the potential flight is also considered. Sometimes the process is quick - I am currently doing LPPT-LLBG. I have scenery for both airports, AES support at the origin, IMC at the origin with clouds and rain at the destination and an El Al QW757. Also, I need to watch the Red Wings game so I want to take off now and be able to land after the game - 5 hours. That's the process I go through when deceiding where, what and when to fly. If something could automate that, I would buy it. Sometimes this process takes 2 minutes to figure out, sometimes it takes a lot longer resulting in me saying f-it and not flying at all.Hi, In "IF" you locate yourself somewhere amongst your favourite scenery, and choose flights as you wish. Then experience all types of weather for the area based on season, time of day, and so on. Ideal Flight lets you forget about the weather until you are in the sim, then you just observe the weather and apply it to your flying as in real life. Best regards; Steve. February 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member Hi Like others i tried out the programe last night and liked what i seen but not being a fan of FSX atc can the plans be exported into radar contact so that can be used instead. Cheers shaun"IF" flight plans are regular FSX .PLN files, would these be all you need for "Radar Contact"? Thanks Shaun. Regards Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member I sent them an email asking if the program can create flight plans for PMDG aircraft (.RTEs) That would make it a must have!Hi Molly, When you start an "IF" flight, your plan is loaded into the GPS and it is already filed with ATC. I have looked briefly at the PMDG .RTE files, a program exists to change .PLN to .RTE files is available. Is there something that IF could do for you to Improve this situatiion? Many thanks. Best regards; Steve.Yes, you can. If you use ASE weather like I do, there is the option to disable the weather features of IF10.Hi, You can still do Air Hauler! A lot nicer using IF fllight plans too and the slick fuel calculation saves you money. Took me just one flight to get my plane set up to land on fumes. Should also be handy online as well, and you can take your IF routes online, please see the help instructions for networked play in IF. Best regards; SteveYes, you can. If you use ASE weather like I do, there is the option to disable the weather features of IF10.I recommend everyone give IF weather a go, it's tuned to give you interesting weather all the time and not make things too harsh. I was using another weather engine and got sea sick. IF won't do that. Thanks for listening and trying Ideal Flight. Regards; Steve. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member Not yet, but I am in contact with the developer about that :-) darem, a special *thank you* for your excellent help and feedback on Ideal Flight sir, it is most appreciated. The same thank you goes out to everyone else working hard right now with me to make sure IF works “out of the box”.This FS community spirit is one of the reasons IF is special. IF now incorporates the wishes of so many FSX users it is even richer in function than the original design specification set out so optimistically to achieve.Thank you all!Steve Waite, codelegend.comPlease visit The Flight Simulator Network; members of FSN have been offering help on IF like they owe me a favour; best wishes to Mark Avey and all at FSN!http://www.flightsimulatornetwork.com/Ideal Flight page @ FSN:http://www.flightsim...ealflightforfsxMy page @ FSN:http://www.flightsim...file/SteveWaiteMy screenshots:http://www.flightsim...e=1e63imtfx8pvfcodelegend.com:http://www.codelegend.com/IF Weather example; landing the BN-2B:http://www.flightsim...-1?context=userIF gliding:http://www.flightsimulatornetwork.com/photo/201111115241572-1?context=userhttp://www.flightsimulatornetwork.com/photo/201111115241572-1?context=user#!/photo/20111146161920-1?context=user Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 2, 201115 yr Hi Steve If IF lives up to all you hope it to be then i'm sure i will buy your product. It just would be nice to try it with all the functions active so i can evaluate the whole programe. Cheers Shaun

All the parts of IF are working, but you cannot do Cold&Dark, change weather, only VOR-VOR routes available. You can go online with your route even though the X button is locked. It's actually a pretty good addon for free if you don't mind reinstalling it every ten flights (and that's only if you log them). But you won't make it to Ace... Thanks for your interest, I wish I could make that part better for all, but at least you can see it working. Best regards; Steve Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

February 2, 201115 yr I liked the program, but couldn't figure out how/where the flightplan is to load into Radar Contact also it always loaded into fullscreen and on my multimonitor setup was annoying.
February 2, 201115 yr Commercial Member I liked the program, but couldn't figure out how/where the flightplan is to load into Radar Contact also it always loaded into fullscreen and on my multimonitor setup was annoying.Hi,Once you launced a flight the flight plan (.PLN) is with the rest of the FSX flight files, .FLT .WX and so on; usually in your documents\FSX folder. If you have not launched the flight the plan can be found in the …\Ideal Flight 10\Flight\New program data folder.Ideal Flight does not influence your monitors, when you close FSX that setup is saved by FSX for the next start up, this is what you should get with IF. IF only runs fsx.exe from the command line, same as if you double click the FSX icon. None the less if you have some interaction somehow you can always start FSX, then launch the IF flight from IF and no screens should change since they are set up already. Please contact me at codelegend about any problems you encounter. Anyone that has contacted me has been treated as if the program had been written for their satisfaction. You can enjoy the same level of service too, that's what “IF” is all about. Many thanks for your comments, I would be grateful if you could try IF again.Best regards; Steve. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 3, 201115 yr Steve, I splashed out and bought IF today but where does one go for official support, the email address on your site?By the way is it normal that after having generated a flight it says "Payload: Crew and Cargo, Weight: 3828 Lbs" ?I would have thought there'd be some passengers (F1 ATR 72-500).ThanksDavid
February 3, 201115 yr Commercial Member Yes please a lot easier to initiate via contact page, codelegend.com.The ATR, used to work, its got PAX sections, Thanks I'll look into right away, should describe the load as passengers agreed. It’s got altered somehow while recently I’ve added code massaging the myriad of weird add-on loading descriptions in the cfg files. As they’re not used much really they don’t get much attention. Still; I thought it would be good if “IF” at least tried to work out what the loads are and provide a nice description in the briefing. Thanks for your support! The PAX description had recently got grouped in with the cargo types by mistake, all fixed now.I'll let you know when the next update is available. Regards; Steve. February 4, 201115 yr Thanks Steve. I am wondering how I can run the external FPS limiter from within IF. Is it possible for the user to launch Fsx manually without having to hit the Fly button to get around this? Perhaps in the options screen if one could tick a box called say, Launch Fsx Manually, so that when activated hitting the Fly button would invite the seasoned user to launch Fsx himself. I realise that this is not really within the remit of your program but many of us FS geeks here use the limiter. Again, thank you for your great support. David

DavidCheck out the help (F1), Initial Screen, down the bottom, edit config.ini, start FSX with a batch file which launches your fps limiter (FPS_Limiter_0.2), and start other programs before FSX which can launch your TrackIR etc. There is another fps limiter around that only sits in your FSX folder with an ini, so no batch required: d3d_antilag101.zip.Best regards; Steve. February 4, 201115 yr Steve,Out of interest can you prevent the program from changing the payload on the aircraft, either by default or for individual aircraft? - thinking in particular the F1 Mustang, since when I have changed the payload on that before the autopilot does not manage to follow the ILS.Also is it possible to load your own flightplan into the program rather than use one that is automatically generated ??CheersG Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
