February 12, 201115 yr has anybody had a hard time getting their sound cards to work on the Asus Deluxe? I've tried two???Hi,No problem here. The drivers downloaded and installed fine.Kind regards,
February 12, 201115 yr Hey Jim,How is it working?Great! I have FSX frames limited to 20 and so far it's the smoothest ride I have ever seen. I have never seen anything like this since owning FSX and FS9. FPS stay at 20 and saw it move to 19 for an instance once. Everything is crisp and clear. That's with FSX/Acceleration installed only. No addons yet but I'm about ready to load those. No hurry though. So far this is the best computer upgrade I have ever made (thanks mainly to you) and it will only get better once Ivy Bridge is released. I get a warning periodically from the ASUS windows program saying VCore is at 1.55V but that quickly goes away. I saw on the ASUS site about filling out a form to get on the list for exchanging motherboards. I had earlier stated I had no intentions of exchanging mine but thought about our conversations and decided to go ahead. If Ivy Bridge is released before the exchange though as some think, I'll move up to that instead. My major issue right now is FSX. I tried to install FSX/Acceleration on the new system but activation failed for both so I had to buy another FSX Deluxe and Acceleration is on its way. Still I can fly for 30 minutes at a time. I called Microsoft and the virtual female computer said I could not install onto a new system as I have used up all my activations. This is a drastic hardware change with a new motherboard and SSD HD. Since buying FSX back in 2006 I have upgraded harddrives and OS's and reinstalled FSX several times so I decided not to fight the issue and buy another copy of each. I wish Microsoft had a method where you could buy another license via the Internet and deactivate the current license. I might call this coming week sometime to chat.... Best regards,Jim

Best regards,JimHi Jim,That all sounds really good! :Applause: I keep waiting to hear that some day from Microsoft about too many FSX installs, but so far, so good. Is the 1.55 volts warning coming from the ASUS Suite? What does your bios say it is? Mine is only set and reports at 1.42 tops at 5.0Ghz at full throttle. I upped it from 1.4 at 5GHz because of a BSOD late last evening, that was likely caused by my RAM being under volted at 1.6, but I did not take the chance and raised it for peace of mind. It will run all day set at 1.38 volts at 4.8GHz.Try 30 or 40 frames!

February 13, 201115 yr Moderator .... But I can say, thus far, I’m delighted with the new SB system. Coming from a C2D, it’s a no brainer. A high end X58 might be another matter. That’s not a pleasure I ever got to enjoy.CheersThat was an interesting read Gumps.Like you I have been on a C2D for going on 3 years now and have finally considered doing an upgrade to SB. It's been hard for me to justify an upgrade over the past year or so, since believe it or not, the current rig I am flying FSX on runs it really well. However, I think that a 2600K might be the way to go but I think I will wait a few more months and let the smoke clear so to speak before I jump in. I was almost thinking about waiting until Flight comes out before an upgrade, but as cheap as the 2600K's are and the associated parts to go with it, I might as well go ahead and do a new build in March/April. February 13, 201115 yr Thanks Gary. I have a memory problem on my new UD7 Mobo that I am investigating. I can only boot with one memory stick if I try more than one I get a repeating restart with C1 diag and with fast memory the video signal doesn't show. I am beginning to think I got a lemon but I want to investigate further. The possibility of overclocking is a mile away at the moment. :Praying:Presume you tested the RAM.Did you flash both bios to the same version? Alt and F12 at the post, then select write current version to backup bios or whatever.I am on F7 and was getting restarts and reversions back to the backup bios like crazy. After I flashed the backup to same version no more issues.Hope it works for you.Use Qflash to update bios not @bios, but you should have the latest version of @bios installed anyway. Set optimum bios setting after flash.http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/38577-new-machine-ud7-wont-start.html#post346476 Regards,Gary Andersen HAF932 Advanced, ASUS Z690-P D4, i5-12600k @4.9,NH-C14S, 2x8GB DDR4 3600, RM850x PSU,Sata DVD, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB storage, W10-Pro on Intel 750 AIC 800GB PCI-Express,MSI RTX3070 LHR 8GB, AW2720HF, VS238, Card Reader, SMT750 UPS.

It will run all day set at 1.38 volts at 4.8GHz.Try 30 or 40 frames! It is coming from a warning from Probe II in the ASUS AI Utility (Windows). It's the V-Core and it is constantly moving around from 1.16 at its lowest. Mainly, the voltage stays around 1.16. The Theshold states the max is 1.551 so that's why a nanosecond warning pops up with 1.56. I don't know if that's all that serious unless it stays at that voltage. I looked in the Alert Log tab in Probe II and it shows I had about 10 abnormal readings since I installed the new CPU and set the system up to 4.8GHz. It also states I had several alerts at 1.568. It might be my surge protector and possibly periodic voltage spikes causing it. I need a new sophisticated surge protector so will replace that soon. I need to update my Real Temp software as the version I have is 3.60 and I see you have 3.67 and I understand your version is definitely required. So much to learn with this new system and chipset! The 30-40 frames sounds nice. When I get everything reinstalled with all activations, I'll try moving the frames limiter up. I had it at unlimited in my old computer and that always worked well.Best regards,Jim

Thus no dual channel available and in my case a max of 4GBS available. I've put my old board and I7 back in. I'll wait and get a new board when the new P67 chips are about and hope the memory issue disapears at the same time. February 13, 201115 yr Hi,I am not a computer science person and can only understand simple things.I think of buying a new computer with a SB CPU overclocked at 4.6. I would like to know if the sandybridge CPU eliminates stutters, hickups, pauses and blurries in FSX. Thank you. My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/

I have my frames locked at 20 and so far it is staying on 20 constantly and everything is smooth as heck. This is with just FSX/Acceleration and MegaScenery California installed. No other addons yet.Best regards,Jim
February 14, 201115 yr Hey guys. Had a quick question. I'm considering switching out my H70 when the MOBO replacement is available. I feel it's not doing the job properly. I'm thinking of getting the Noctua NH-D14. Here is my concern. Will it be able to fit considering the heat sink on my Mushkin ram? Thanks guys.I just had the same experience (only in reverse) and the Noctua overhung the memory slots and I couldn't put my memory fans on. I then went to a H70 water bottle which allowed me to put on the memory fans. I guess I'll use the Noctua as an anchor or something. John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
