Hi,Absolutely, indeed we stay below 20 degrees as a protection and even passenger comfort, it doesn't feel very pleasant down the back! The dead band is basically where the tail plan for want iof an expression becomes less effective so to speak, as you rotate the tailplane experiences the dirty air from the wing ( the turbulent airflow from the wing) For an aerofoil to generate lift it requires a laminar airflow, in this case the tail plane becomes less effective as it's lowered into and experiences the turbulent air that's just been forced over and around the wing.Does that make sense? All the best,James

Actually yes it makes perfect sense because I can relate that to my sailboat. The tail needs clean air, just like my mainsail for it to be effective. If my forward guy doesn't trim the jib correctly, It can hurt my mainsail's performance to the point that we'd actually run better with only one sail set. Trimming a sail (which uses the same lift principle as an aircraft wing) is fairly similar to pitching up or down to achieve the right amount of lift, only my keel converts that sideways lift into forward motion. If the jib (forward sail) is sheeted in too much it will stall the mainsail because of all the dirty (turbulent) air killing the airfoil effect. Properly trimmed, it sets up a sort of venturi effect between the two & accelerates air passing over the downwind side of the sail (top of the wing), making actual forward thrust (lift) greater than the sum of the two sails measured individually.

Pretty sure there's some of those in the cockpit haha, at least in the original photos. That was one dirty bird.Teo,As far as I can tell ours does behave like that - the struts do compress.
Ryan, I know some people find it hard to believe, but some cockpits can be pretty nasty. Sometimes they even have graffiti too!

I would laugh till I couldn't breath if I installed the NGX & someone from PMDG had scratched Killroy was here on the glareshield!!!Can I get that as an option? I'll pay extra!! Big%20Grin.gif

Hey!Sorry for interrupting the talk but I'm having a very hard time choosing between 3 addons: REX, Ultimate Traffic 2 or PFE. Or should I get another plane? I couldn't get to a conclusion by myself so I'd like a few opinions. Take into account that I basically use FSX for default planes 'cause I only have one addon plane, ASE and FSUIPC (registered) so far. That's because it's hard for a 16 y.o. guy to buy them by yourself.So... What will it be?

For some reason I had a double posting issue. Weird. Never happened before. :(

That landing could not have been worse
I have always learned that every landing you can walk away from is a good landing

That depends if your one addon plane is a PMDG. If it is, I'd suggest you buy REX & start saving for the NGX. If not, I'd recommend buying a PMDG aircraft over any other addon & still start saving for the NGX.

REX was my top option, but unfortunatelly my "one plane" is not a PMDG. It's FSLabs Concorde, which I deeply regret buying. The plane is good, but not good enough for me. It's close to a PMDG, but maintain some distance. Almost all switches work, but many of them have absolutely no effect in the sim beside changing an indication number in a gauge. There are also some missing texture issues with it's 2D. Less than a month after purchase I didn't fly that anymore. That's exactly what I'm worried about. I'm saving for the NGX for some time. I believe I have enough money for it and for FS2Crew NGX edition, which I'm going to purchase along with NGX itself. If I'm gonna get a plane I'm defenetively gonna get PMDG MD-11 and TOPCAT together.

If you're going to get the NGX and fs2crew or the MD-11 and Topcat, I'd suggest saving a little extra and investing in AOA's training packages as these bring a lot to the aircraft as well. Also, FSLabs Concorde I think is excellent as far as reproducing an actuall Concorde itself and would not really compare it to a wilco product. That's just my opinion though.

I've been thinking about getting AoA too. Their training packages are really great.FSL Concorde isn't anywhere near wilco at all. Probably I mis-expressed myself. It's the highest fidelity Concorde for FSX I've ever seen, but the problem is that most of the time I feel like doing some short flights and Concorde doesn't "allow" me to do that. And I still didn't mastered how to control it manually. The controls are very sensitive and fly an approach with a 10-degree pitch is really difficult.

Matheus Mafra

Yeah that is the only issue. You really have to allow at least a couple of hours for a supersonic flight. If you haven't got the MD-11 yet or the JS41 you really should get them. REX is great for eye candy bit that really comes second as far as flight simulation goes for me. I'd say get the MD11 with AOA, or the J41 with FS2Crew voice commander, or just the aircraft on their own as they both come with tutorials and load managers.

If you want to do short flights then I highly recommend the Leonardo Maddog MD82. Its AMAZING! Best plane in my fleet. If you dont mind flying a long haul plane on short routes then the PMDG MD11 is a very good choice as well. Its a joy to fly for sure.

I've been looking into the Maddog but am unsure. I frequently do short hauls in the MD-11, in fact I don't do long hauls at all.

That's what I think too. I was a bit "afraid" of buying it because I also think that these things you don't have an "immediate contact" with are secondary.Althought the MD-11 is a big plane, you still can load a bit less fuel and fly a short leg of 300, 400nm. That's because in those slower planes you don't need to plan much ahead. In the Concorde you have to plan much longer ahead because it's aerodynamics are so good that if you accelerate to much, you have to give the plane a loooong time to slow down, specially if you are still descending. They even have an in-flight reverse for that. It's literally a button that you press that unlocks engines 2 & 3 reverse. With an FMC you can change you route or destination airport if you want with ease, just typing a few letters and checking the route in the ND. With an INS that don't happen because you have to know the precise coordinate of the waypoints or the airport you wanna go to.
