February 1, 201115 yr Now if you want hardcore throw in Nvidias 3D vision on top of it and then you're really flying.Oh I can't do 3d just yet, it gives me headaches. Maybe in a year or two. February 1, 201115 yr Save your money, I wish I would have saved mine. Interfers too much with the LEDs on my flight gear. Although 120hz monitors are nice.
February 1, 201115 yr Be careful with the track clip pro. I recently snapped mine and can't even recall how I snapped it. Its now taped up with insulation tape.Yeah, I I managed to break mine when I took it out off the package for the first time! :D Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
February 1, 201115 yr Is part of the insulation tape crew also. I iwsh I would have just wrapped it from the initial day i got it. At least I caught it before the wires broke as they are really thin.
February 1, 201115 yr I think I've read somewhere that they're working on a new clip for track ir. I would be sending mine back but really can't be bothered as the insulation tape is working fine and the new one would probably snap as well. Gavin Price
February 3, 201115 yr OK, so you guys started talking about this TrackIR5 thing & having never heard of it before I had to give it a gander. Well, 10 minutes of looking and I had to have one. 2 days after ordering (their turnaround is incredible) I have it set up and all I can say is WOW!!!!! Doesn't seem to affect framerates at all, which was a big fear of mine. I've always used 2d panels because that was easier for me with a stick & mouse but now it's VC all the way! My first trial with it was taxiing from gate to holding short 35L at KDFW & this is the first time in my life I've taxied the B744 without a top-down view and not touched the grass at some point. To be honest I think my rear tires straddled the center line from start to finish and I'm pretty sure I stopped about 10 feet from the hold short line. Thats from poking my head up to look over the glareshield Using VC is taking me a little getting used to. I have a hard time locating the switch/knob I need because I'm used to the 2d perspective, but it's getting easier. For anyone looking for a quick way to tremendously boost their FS experience (or NGX experience), you've got to get one of these things! VC is totally natural, no more hat switches or fumbling to get just the right view - you just turn your head a bit and you can be checking out the overhead panel, look for aircraft on approach at a runway crossing, even looking back to check out the hot stewardess who just offered your FO a cocktail. Heck, I can even read the FMC without opening it in a new view!OK, didn't mean to advertise. It just took me by surprise how natural it felt after just a few minutes of fiddling with it. I think I've read somewhere that they're working on a new clip for track ir. I would be sending mine back but really can't be bothered as the insulation tape is working fine and the new one would probably snap as well. The clip that came with mine today is made of spring steel, which seems like the most suitable material (as an API inspector I'm pretty much a metallurgist without the degree) It flexes well, bend it far enough & it'll stay bent, but you shouldn't have any problems with breaking it. This is for the basic IR5, not the clip pro. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
February 3, 201115 yr Author yes, it takes abit time, but now with every flight it gets easier to use.but for takeoff and landing i still disable it, i need some more practice thanks to all who gave some input best regards, Michael K N I T T L PC Specs: i7950@4ghz, ASUS PTV2 Deluxe, nVidia GTX580, 12GB DD3 1600 Corsair Controls: Saitek Yoke & Rudder Pedals, TackIR5

One other thing I would strongly suggest is a second monitor to undock the 2D FMC or anything else while your in the VC even a cheap $20 monitor will do! :) My Clip has Blue Tack and superglue holding it together after I stood on it a year ago, can't fly without it :) Rob Prest

February 3, 201115 yr I have TrackIR 4 and I re-installed its software last month when I got a new system. To my dismay, the unit is not working! I do see the blinking blue lights on camera but I get (from time to time) the green light on the bottom right of the software window meaning that "camera is detected and connected" but I cannot see the green lights on camera - it is simply not working.I posted at the NaturalPoint forum and they say that the device may be broken. Does anyome had this (bad!) experience or has any advice to get my TrackIR working (if it is not broken)? Thanks! Edmundo Azevedo

I've seen some strange behavior in other things by not doing that. Also, is the camera plugged straight to the computer's USB or through a hub? Those are just shots in the dark. I'm sure someone else can help you out better, but that's where I'd start.EDIT: I read your posts on their support forum, it sounds like a hardware to me. If the warranty is expired on yours I know a couple of members here don't like theirs. Maybe you could work out a deal with one of them. February 4, 201115 yr OK, 1 or 2 people asked me to post my settings, so here goes. Remember, I only got it yesterday so I'm still fine tuning it. This is what I have right now & it works really well, but I've still got a little room to improve it.I started with the sethflight profile, it's linked on the first page of this thread. Set speed to 1 and smooth to 32. I also changed the centering hotkey to shift+F12 so I don't accidentally hit it trying to do something else. I center with the front of the clip 26" from the camera (yeah, I pulled out my tape measure to check). I'm sure I'll be tweaking it here and there over time, but this setup is pretty comfortable & intuitive for me. Yes, I did RC and installed "As Administrator" and I do have the camera plugged directly into a USB port of my computer. I also believe that the camera is broken - it´s a shame because I used it very little!Regards Edmundo Azevedo
