February 14, 201115 yr You know what would be nice? If I can someone see my aircraft traveling through a real satellite map on my iPad so I know I'm over exactly which city. That'd be really sweet. Anyway of doing this?
February 14, 201115 yr None really. There is one that lets you control some things in FSX, but it looks incomplete and has bad ratings. I would love a throttle control.

Both work well with iPad or iPhone.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. GPU: RTX 24Gb Titan 2 x 2160p projectors at 25Hz onto 200 FOV curved screen
February 14, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the responses. I'm torn between FsxFollow and Igmap. Does FsxFollow have a satellite map (where I can see the kind of terrain, etc)? Igmap seems a lot more complicated.
February 14, 201115 yr I have IGMap for the iphone and I’m a little disappointed with the maps its uses (I think some kind of open source). The maps are difficult to read and there is no satellite images. Maybe the ipad version is better?
February 14, 201115 yr Commercial Member I can understand the desire to have satellite maps but unfortunately you cannot use the Google Maps API in a commercial app without paying a $10,000/year license which is just not viable in the FS market. We've looked at a few other options and they all involved paying substantial fees for the data. You might be able to use the iPhone MapKit (hooks into Google Maps) but that is limited to just 3 maps (Roads, Terrain and Sat - Hybrid is Sat with an overlay). Our goal was to include as many built-in Aeronautical charts as possible, so on balance the CloudMade mapping engine was the best choice because you can expand it. The next version of iGMap/iGMapHD (not the one currently being review by Apple) will have 4 extra maps and one is Google Clone map, one that mimics the colors and style of the Google Roads map as close as possible. Igmap seems a lot more complicated.FsxFollow uses Google maps so you can have satellite, normal road maps or a hybrid mix as usual. It doesn't have aviation charts like IgMap, but on the other hand Igmap is no good to someone like me who flies mainly in Europe, because you can't get the charts for anywhere but North America. And the substituted maps are not to my taste at all I'm afraid.I can understand the desire to have satellite maps but unfortunately you cannot use the Google Maps API in a commercial app without paying a $10,000/year license which is just not viable in the FS market. I'm not using it to navigate. I have proper plans and an FMS for that -- also Jeppesen Flitemap on another PC (but outside the cockpit). The advantage of the iPad is to have it on the usually-empty First Officer's seat next to me. ;-)Now, if Jeppesen were to port their FliteMap to the iPad, that would be something!RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. February 15, 201115 yr I'm looking into jumping into Windows Phone development, and I want to do some kind of helper applicaiton for FSX. My first thought was something for VA simmers, but with an application running SimConnect that then connects to the phone via the internet/wifi could open us up to a lot.I don't have a Windows Phone in Japan yet, but the dev tools are still helpful. I'll have to borrow my friends iPhone and see how FsxFollow works.I heard someone talking about wanting a FMC on a smartphone or tablet device. That would be great! You could have a radio stack, throttles, MCP, elec.flight bag, or any other component of a plane reduced to an application, instead of buying the hardware. They could be cheaper and for people that want to break some parts off the screen, but don't want to buy any hardware. :( Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB

For those with, for example, an iPhone/iPod touch and an iPad you could install the application on each device and be able to load up a different instument but all still connect to the same PC :( I might have to look into this, but i would probably look at making it for windows phone or maybe android. I don't have a mac for iphone development. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
February 15, 201115 yr There is also FSKneeboard. February 15, 201115 yr Author So I bought FSXFollow yesterday and I liked it. It's very simple to use.
