March 1, 201115 yr I hope I don't get admonished or beat up too badly by posting this in this forum, but PMDG has spoiled me rotten. I would like to update my hanger with some additional addon aircraft and hope to get some ideas from the discriminating folks who frequent this forum. Anyway my current hanger includes the following:Flight 1 ATR72-500Level D 767Digital Aviation Fokker 70/100Feel There ERJ V2 135/145/145ERLeonardo Maddog MD-80PMDG JS41, 747, MD-11I am looking to add Airbus to my hanger and struggle with finding an addon that comes close to the quality of PMDG. My addiction to PMDG was so bad that when I updated my computer mid part of last year I actually installed FS9 as well as FSX just so I could fly their 737NG ( all models, 600/700/800/900 ). Just want to fly something different while waiting for the release of the 737NGX. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, however, if this post offends you please step away from your computer, take a deep breath, go get something to drink that's caffeine free then respond.Bob DemarestBirmingham, Al (KBHM) Bob Demarest Knoxville, Tennessee
March 1, 201115 yr im SLOWLY making the switch to FSX and all those you have are pretty good, truth is you aren't going to find any airbus addon of a pmdg quality, the best one IMO was the Feelthere/Wilco Airbus series, and they will be releasing an "evolution" update pack shortly, i own the original airbus volume 2 and it was very buggy and not up to my expectations, but this new evolution update is suppose to fix some of the more obvious bugs, although im skeptical if it could even be on the same level as the FS9 737NG. I only use FSX at the moment to fly the Accusim B17 which as far as vintage planes go, is right up there with PMDG, and it takes a lot of work to get used to and teaches you about engine care. You should check it out, it should keep you very busy until the NGX is released. You can look it up on youtube just to get an idea of how accurately modeled it is. I want to stray off topic for just a little bit and ask what do you use for ground/environment textures, the only thing ive done to my FSX was convert the cloud textures to DXT so i could get a little better performance, i dont know where to go from there. March 1, 201115 yr VRS Superbug and there upcoming tac-pack are two things you should add to your hanger. Superbug is a fantastic add-on. Cheers Dylan Leonard

March 1, 201115 yr ORBX Scenery if you've got some cash around, gonna be a perfect match for the NGX :( If you deffo want to increase the metal content then the A2A Accusim series are very special (recent B17 and Spitfire convert) and the brilliantly quirky Lotus Sim Albatross....These are the closest I've found to the quality and attention to detail you'd find in a PMDG craft (but we all know deep down the NGX is the prom date we're waiting to pop our cherries with after the last dance :( )Other than that, trawl the threads on here and check out what others are flying from reading their signatures, then pop to the manufacturer's website to see if it floats your boat...EDIT : :( Can't believe I forgot the Lancair for most fun GA nomination James Hughes

March 1, 201115 yr If you are looking to expand your hanger, check out the realAir Duke, both the original piston version, and their new turbine version. Coupled with the reality XP, it is great fun to fly. Especially if you spoil your self further and get some scenery (cough ORBX cough) to go along with it. March 2, 201115 yr You already have some of the best of almost all the equipment classes:Turboprop - JS41Regional - ERJ 145Short range - Maddog MD-80Medium range - LVLD 767Long range - PMDG 747 / MD-11I would add Wilco's E170/190 series. Another great regional choice.Only things really missing from your hanger is the 737NGX, LVLD's 757, and PMDG's 777. Unfortunately all haven't been released yet, but all should be must-haves. March 2, 201115 yr Hi if u want an aircaft thats not an addon for fsx is the dcs_A10c Warthog which some of us already have downloaded I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
March 2, 201115 yr Yea, i recommend the RealAir Duke- Turbine or Turbo, both are very very nice to fly! Reg Klaus from LOWG
March 3, 201115 yr Yea, i recommend the RealAir Duke- Turbine or Turbo, both are very very nice to fly!+1 on the Duke. I just purchased the Turbo version and it's a hot ride. March 7, 201115 yr Maybe a new type of fliying. What about a classic warbird? There are really good planes from Shockwave...The new WOPIII Spitfire seems to be amazing. Or the beloved P-51...Cheers, Paolo Fumagalli "Everyday is a new flight, with new system to learn, new failures to prevent and new database to update..."
March 8, 201115 yr I second the Wilco/Feelthere E170/E190, I've been using the E170 as a stop gap until the NGX arrives. It has the range to do 75+% of all the routes the 737 family does just at a slower cruise so it makes for an acceptable substitute, the only place it falls short is on the longer 737-800 routes that airlines like Alaska Air fly(KSEA to/from PHNL, PHOG, KMCO, KBOS etc.), and even then you can do it, you'd just be breaking about every fuel reserve rule in the book. I recently flew the E170 from Tahiti (NTAA) to Easter Island (SCIP), a distance of 2329nm with a full load of fuel (20,983lbs), at its MTOW of 82011lbs and landed 6:08 (block time) later with 2,895lbs of fuel on board. Aside from the E170, you've got everything I have in my hanger. The only other planes I really like, but are not heavy metal, are the Caranado C206 and the Flight 1 PC-12, but I only fly these because they are good alternatives to the default A/C in their respective category not because they are as detailed in their systems and operations as PMDG.Michael Michael Wolfe Intel Core i5 2300 / ASUS P8P67(b3) mobo / 4GB Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz Dual Channel RAM / ASUS GTS450 1GB DDR5 810Mhz(O.C.) / Seagate Baracuda 1.5TB 7200RPM HDD / ASUS DVD+/-RW Burner / CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus cpu cooler / CoolerMaster Extreem Power Plus 700W PSU / Antec 300 case w/ 1x 140mm Antec TriCool and 4x 120mm Antec TriCool fans / Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) / ASUS VE228 LED 1080p 21.5" Monitor
March 8, 201115 yr For a change from the modern sophisticated jetliners, try the A2A B-17G Flying Fortress with their Accusim pac. This simulates the B-17 on a level comparable to PMDG or LDS aircraft. However, it's an aircraft from an entirely different era and you'll spend some time learning to manage those radial engines and going back to good old school pilotage and dead reckoning navigation. Their P-47D and Sptifire Mk.I/II both have Accusim expansion (added realism level) and are excellent as well. One thing that is very nice about these aircraft not seen on PMDG or similar modern commercial aircraft is cumulative wear. Engine and systems performance change over time (saved consecutively from each flight--you start off where you ended last time in terms of wear) and the rate is based on how much you abuse them. Of course, modern airliners are much more resilient and this wouldn't be as useful in the PMDG world. Eric Szczesniak
