FSX HT?

Is there a OC guide for best possible results using the p8p67-le motherboard? Im still getting dodgy performance from my 4.5ghz auto overclock using the asus bios. Is there a better way of doing this? Sorry to hijack the thread. Kind of related.
I used this one and got it to a very safe 4ghz right now 24/7. is already a blast compared to my E8700 I used (even o/c'ed) before. seldem below 30 fps with ORBX or German Airports scenery, UT2, REX and ASE when flying with any of the other PMDG aircraft I own. http://www.overclock.net/intel-motherboards/916621-asus-p8p67-m-pro-ocing-guide.htmlwill try more o/c once possibly needed when the NGX is out. but there might be a completely new CPU generation by that time :( phil

um yea ihave the core i7 970 6core with HT on and fsx takes full advantage with proper affinitymask settings. oh and sandybridge is kinda lame
Haha, lame?! Sandy Bridge is smacking 1366 around (yes, even the 980X!!!) according to these results. If SB is sooo lame, why don't you go run FSXMark11 and show us how it's done?Anyway, +1 for the 2500K. With regards to HT, there's a very interesting result submitted by Word Not Allowed at the very top of the FSXMark11 results which seems to indicate that perhaps HT provides at least a small benefit. It's hard to say for sure as it could simply be something else on his system. Regardless, you have to question whether the small fps gain is worth the extra heat.

I don't understand why everyone hates on the 2600k. I have a question for all the people recommending the 2500k. Do you get a new computer every year? I plan on using my 2600k for MS Flight and Windows 8. It would be silly if they didn't take advantage of HT.

Have to ask the PMDG guys on here, are you guys running the 737NGX on Sandy Bridge?

Here's another Sandy Bridge OC Guide: http://www.clunk.org...-beginners.html
That's the one I used. I couldn't get it to run any faster than the auto-tune, but it is running much cooler with manual voltage.I'm one of the unlucky 40% (approximately) that hits a wall just short of 4.5 with the 2600k. At 4.4GHz though, should I still be considered unlucky? I can notch vcore up all day, all the way up to 1.65 & windows just won't load at 4.5GHz at any voltage. Runs 4.4 all day long at 1.25v with or without HT.Question, I'm running Corsair Vengeance (4x4) memory (9-9-9-24, 1600MHz) Does anyone think having tighter timing on the memory would have made a difference? The part description said it was made to run with SB (1.5v) NOTE: I know 16GB is overkill, I just wanted more than 8.

Hi KenYou could try undreclocking your RAM to 1333 or even 1066MHz and see if that's limiting you. Also try just 2 sticks and see if that helps take your OC any higher. That way you can rule out your memory being the "wall" instead of your CPUHave you enabled CPU PLL Overvoltage in BIOS? that should assist with high OC's

Try changing the memory profile to XMP... and then only changing multiplier to 45, vcore to one notch under 1.35. ddr vcore should be 1.5v too

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm stuck working 14-16hr days right now (23 yesterday) so it'll be a while before I actually have the gumption to start working on the OC again.

You have to post your settings, tweaks, and what fps you are getting with a specific airplane at a specific airport. I have a 2600k overclocked to 4.5 and my frames can lower to 11-13 also at KFLL fsdreamteam with water 2.0, wilco a320, and max airline and GA ai. So you have to tell us your settings because maybe your results are normal and your settings, etc. are too high.
