Most Realistic Airliner (FS9)

The PSS777 is, I think, pretty good.
Is it comparable with the PMDG 747 or LDS 767?

The all-around best must be the Leonardo Maddog. There is no rivaling plane for as far as I can see in FS2004. Also very good is the PT Tu-154M, and that one's free too! There's also the LDS767, which

Sort of, It's a very aged product and not really used without a merge with the POSKY 777, which have a good VC. Panel complexity similar to PMDG 747/LDS 767 but can't comment on aerodynamic accuracy. It's the best 777 for FS9 around but PSS is no longer in business which means that you'll get no official support. Unofficial support from other users is still available on one of the other Avsim forums.

Not really. Not this league. In addition:- the VC looks really poor in today's standards (IMHO merging it with Posky makes no sense as you will lose its functionality)- the exterior model has never been correct or even good-looking- there have always been some FDE problems, e.g. with autoland and cruise oscillations- (as mentioned above) there is no support (even no downloads) as the developer is out of businessThat is my personal view of course. But the more views the better it gets, right? :(

PSS was a mixed bag of utter mediocrity in some areas and brilliance in others. As mentioned their models were never particularly accurate or detailed(they saw no need - go figure), yet PSS was one of a mere handful of devs to get properly timed strobes on a dynamic flex wing right (they called it R.E.A.L. - forget what that means). Also the 777/757 can be adjusted on the fly in many areas from the panel utility popup. Some of these features were very innovative at the time.Re the 777 I've logged many many long hours of very smooth stable flight vc-only. For me function is more important than form, so I don't mind the poorer vc graphics as long as everything that's modelled works. I've not had oscillations etc, but I think time acceleration was the issue - PSS only guaranteed proper a/p function at 1x sim rate.

Mark

As the FDE 'expert' at the first PSS 777 release, I remember the pioneer work. I have released a rework of the FDE, but the battle against the custom a/p remains.See my site at www.jdserver.mine.nu/johanIf I knew then what I know now, it would be much better.

For me the contenders are:DreamFleet 727 - absolutely flawless in every respect - absolutely addictiveLevelD 767 - no brainer there. THE CLASSIC OF ALL TIME....Flight1 ATR - nothing to criticize - another great product with excellent systems modellingAnd for all you Monty Python fans - roll of the drums....."And now for something completely different" --- two much-overlooked freeware productsRick Piper's HS 748 - I can tell you from the real world, it doesn't get much better than this...David Maltby's DH Comet IV - followed quite closely by his BAC 1-11Not putting down any of the other products mentioned here as I do not have PMFG 737/747/MD11 and have not yet bought iFly 737.....CheersIan

Kind of weird to hear myself on that video (it's me doing the UK pilot voice), but yup, I agree, the iFly is a cracking FS9 airliner and it is made all the better with the FS2 add on for it.Al

Ian, come on, life is too short not to fly iFly! Big%20Grin.gif

Does your new FDE allow the plane to handle sim acceleration past 1x?

LOL - I know, I know... :( But my brain can only wrap itself around just so many complex addon aircraft - I still haven't really mastered most of the ones I already have... But it is on my "to buy" list and with a long summer vacation coming up, I'm sure it will be joining my fleet very soon

Dont know, didnt try that scenario. You can try, but the A/P is what causes the problems. Same as with the PSS airbus.
