This cfg looks like a mess to me after looking at it and comparing to mine.If I were you, I would save this cfg file somewhere, then delete the working one in FSX and let FSX rebuild a new one. Once the new one is built run it thru Bojote's FSX config tool and try that out. Here's the link to the automated tool - http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmlBTW, I would also try unchecking Aircraft Shadows and AC_Self_Shadow of which both are set to 1.Also, why do you have two entries of [DISPLAY.Device.ATI Radeon HD 6900 Series .0]? And why is Highmentfix=1 commented out?Where did you get this value of 400 ? TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 // Mods - Try something between 40 (stock) and 70Sean Campbell

Yeah, from what I understand 400 sounds more like an FS9 setting. I don't think FSX should ever go above 80, but I could be mistaken.

Also ATI/AMD cards are generally not advised for FSX - they have several issues relating to how the GPU actually works vs. Nvidia's that cause lower performance in FSX (especially where clouds are concerned) and several long standing driver issues with FSX that their driver team directly told me they have no intention of ever fixing. As a result I only recommend Nvidia cards for simming systems now. You get better AA as well, ATI doesn't have anything like the Nvidia combined modes.

Thanks gents for some sound advice & comments with the replies.Firstly Sean I will try the idea of a new CFG after backing up this one, I have the original CFG file safely backed up incase & then perhaps go to the link provided for Bojote's FSX config tool. Not sure how the 2 entries came about for the card, I am happy to start a fresh.MrKen, not sure where I got the setting fo rthe TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 (can't remember where this came from but I will try lowering this value to experiment with), the Highmemtfix=1 was only that I use to get some missing graphics with the GF card so I used this, it was mentioned on the Aerosoft site some time ago. Did not need to use it with the ATI card as I get no issues with graphics in that way.Ryan, many thanks for some interesting comments on the different cards, I will try some of the changes mentioned above first, if no good I will pass on the ATI (RIP) & purchase a GTX 580. Although I have found this card very good when looking around the JS4100 cockpit very fast response (I use space bar, mouse & scroll wheel) & when going between views using F9, F10, F11 & F12 I see no appreciable delay with this method only a few mSeconds. With external slight stuttering in built up areas as my old GF9800GT 1GB card did but too a greater extent, after all this addon JS4100 aircraft is very demanding on the system, but a great model to fly. I see no problems when flying through default high detailed clouds.Regards to all from Gateway in UK

Sounds like you're on the right track. Sean's advice on letting FSX build a new cfg & then running that through *******' tool should fix you up, plus the shader mod that Ryan suggested. Please excuse the pun/blasphemy, (even though they're not pronounced the same) but ******* is probably the ******* of tweaking FSX.

Hmm, your fsx.cfg file is messed up for sure. :)I'd advice you to delete it and let FSX build a new one by starting FSX.Then, go here http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmlYou'd see better results now! Good luck.

Thanks to all simulator people for ideas on the cfg file. Sorry a bit late but had a busy summer. After letting FSX build a new fsx.cfg file from scratch I found best for my win7 64 bit OS & the XFX ATI Radeon HD 6970 2G graphics card with the screen set to1920x1080x32 (60Hz) resolution the only final tweaks I have done to the cfg file are set out below, this was after several try it & see actions with other tweaks which did not really improve much or in some cases made it worse. I found this gives me very good fps & no issues with stuttering or the like using the above ATI card. I set in the ATI CCC for the card AA @ 4x. I did have some issues with my OS in the past so I ran the system file checker routine within windows in DOS as administrator sfc /scannow this has made my OS much more stable & corrected some files which had been currupted. I have since then made sure I have all latests windows updates in place. If I run my most demanding aircraft the PMDG JS4100 I get 25-35 fps in most areas except large built up areas. Most other addon aircraft gives 45-50 fps. Shadows on ground set (I like real as I can get)Reflections on aircraft setLanding lights setAircraft self shadow set I have running for europe Flight1 GEX, UTX & Scenery Tech land class.I have also addon freeware airports & the like. So I would say to any one that the AMD grapahic card range in the HD 6*** is now very good for FSX & at about 2/3 the price some of the Nvidia GTX range. It handles AA, etc well now. I use another sim which is Railworks & have good results with this card. My PC is i7-970 (6 core) @ 3.2G not O/C, 12G RAM at 1600MHz, 256GB Crucial Real SSD C300 for OS & SIMs & a 500G 7200 drive for files. Screen is BenQ 24" LED @ 1920x1080x32. In CFG only those below used, gave me best results with the XFX HD6970 after some trials. [GRAPHICS]ForceFullScreenVSync=1 <<<<< Added [DISPLAY]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 <<<<< Modified from defaultUPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=50 <<<<< If I use 0 which is unlimited I get some very slight stutters when scrolling around inside the cockpit it seems to jump a bit with having a fixed settings it’s very smooth. Did not want to externally set FPS as some of the function keys I use were being used. [TERRAIN]TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TRESS_PER_CEL=1200 <<<<<< AddedTERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CEL=800 <<<<<< Added [JOBSCHEDULER] <<<<<<< AddedAffinityMask=1365 <<<<<<< Added To do with asking for the main 6 cores to use FSX may only be that 4 are really used though but I find it runs better for me this being 0101 0101 0101In conclusion all okay in my camp at present, now looking forward to the new MS Flight in the near future. Best RegardsM.Connolly.

"PC i7-970 Hexa Core @ 3.2GB (6 actual, 6 virtual)" your problem is you have no overclock, I have the exact same cpu and the difference of an overclock to 4.2 ghz is day and night and worth your time to overclock it to that, I wouldnt go past that if you want to maintain stability, go to overclockers.net they will get it working for you if you do not know how, good luck. Oh get a corsair water cooler you will be golden.
