May FSX and Flight Comparison Screenshots

Flight looks amazing. Although it seems for planes all I'm seeing is prop planes. Maybe they'll show us some jets.
Well the original FS started with 1 aircraft, 6 tiles, and 1 runway. So at least its an upgrade from that! :(

Yup. Just saying that from the previews I haven't noticed any jets (yet). However, I remember them saying about how Flight was supposed to cater to the newcomers as well as keep the hardcore crowd happy as well, so I guess that means that they'll have jets.

Microsoft promises "a wide range of new game play and challenges"; so this would indicate not only jets but maybe weapons systems as well. They do, after all, want to appeal to a wider audience.Regards, Mike Mann

MS has always stated that a default weapons system would never appear in FS. No, that little Red Baron app. in early versions does not count.

I don't suppose that dropping the word Simulator from Flight would allow them to rethink their previous stand against a weapons system?Regards, Mike Mann

Remember, this is a totally new team on a totally new product. Old rules may not apply!

So based on that, Microsoft is basically scrapping the existing Flight Simulator game and starting from scratch? I guess that would mean they are designing a new engine and other things as well? For example, with FSX and previous versions, you needed a beast of a system in order to play it with mostly maxed out settings (I get around 20 FPS on my Sandy Bridge system with most settings maxed, except for traffic which is 50%). Maybe with Flight, they are probably designing it so the CPU isn't the determining factor in the game's performance? My guess is it'll probably support the latest tech, such as SLI, better multi-core and other things.

Nope ...not connected ...

It's still Microsoft and it is still a Microsoft game. Microsoft sets the rules, not the new team.

any news about the screen n.2?

My fsx runs on: CPU:[email protected] (196*21) Mobo:Asus P6tDeluxeV2 RAM:Corsair 12Gb Video:Nvidia 580 GTX HDD:2 WD 130Gb + 1 Seagate barracuda 500Gb

what I am most expecting from MSF is less how good it looks as we can have those today with adons pretty much at the same quality. It's more about how much MS managed to shift all it's Graphics processing to the GPU and taking advantage of more then one GPU , leaving our CPU(s) alone.if most of the Graphics processing is shifted to the GPU (unlike FSX that most of it is still a CPU depended), we got our self a very well performance Flight Simulation. GPU Upgrade for whoever needs it is very simple (compared to CPU/System UPG) and they are released all the time with much more performance boostthen CPUs do when new versions come out .so let's say when MSF is released and it doesn't perform well on the top of the line GPU, it would not be the case a year later.when new GPU(s) are released they bring a hell of a performance Boost and the release rate is much higher then CPU/System release rate and cheaper and easier to UPG of course. That is my main goal of what to expect from MSF

Considering that you can already have weapons in FS, it would not surprise me in the least if they added weaponry by default, since it would effectively be like gluing CFS and FS together. It's a common complaint from gamers that FS is 'boring' because it has no warplanes that can shoot and bomb things. Some may not want them in FS (personally I don't mind), but it may be the price of entry for a flight sim that has wider appeal.Al

Nice screen shot comparisons, thanks for taking the time to compare.I know you will not like me for this, but wouldn't it be fairer to compare these pre release screen shots of MS Flight ... that must be cherry picked I'm sure you will agree ... and compare to FSX as it stands now with all the scenery enhancements?FSX with lots of scenery enhancements is now the Status Quo for a lot of us ... why should we switch to MS Flight? ... who from MS don't exactly flood us with information on potential third party involvement?Another thing ... why are we only seeing screen shots (and MS have been guilty of doctoring screen shots in the past) from the Hawaii area? Surely if the sim is as well in progress as they tell us ... they would have other areas to show by now too ... I smell a rat.I love your a really excited user enthusiasm mate, but I'm a FS Stalwart and don't believe everything the MS machine shows or tells us ... I'm jaded ... I know, but well experienced in these matters.I hope against hope I'm wrong, but honestly think MS have lost the plot ... They lost it when they cancelled their sim series the last time on cut backs. And for those asking ... get a grip ... MS are not going to waste time developing a world wide GA simulation with realistic weapon effects, there are plenty combat aviation sims that focus on blowing things up far better, go look there :)

It would not be fair at all to compare Flight to FSX with loads of add-ons. The point is to show the default FSX next to the default Flight to show the huge difference for those who have trouble seeing it. Even thought the scenery is new, that's not all that's new in Flight. There's a lot of graphical enhancements that are not possible in FSX. Once the add-on developers get Flight, it will likely be turned into something that will kick FSX out of the water. Why not show just Hawaii? It's a beautiful location, and great for showing off the new sim's capabilities visually. The point is to keep us wanting more. Eventually, I'm sure they'll show us other parts of the world. We just have to be patient. I'm sure most of these shots are not even edited. If they are, it's only been a color tweak or something simple. We can't assume Flight will be bad because of FSX was. FS2004 was great, and we expected FSX to be the same way. Did that happen? Not exactly. It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. We really don't know how it will be. Best to wait and see.

No you are absolutely wrong ... the basic facts you fail to grasp are that a lot of us have FSX looking far batter than these potentially cherry picked MS screen shots ... why would we buy a new sim that looked the same or worse with our back history of exquisite add ons for an existing platform?Your comparison screen shorts only make sense if we were to only use the default FSX scenery and Acceleration add on ... and lets face it, who here does that?Let me explain to you again as an enthusiast ... the Status Quo is FSX with lots of add ons ... some more than others ... its fun but bloody useless comparing what MS show about MS Flight with FSX as it was upon its release ... you might as well compare MS Flight shots with FS1 for all the usefulness it does. And now I'm sorry because I've been to hard on you ... I feel your enthusiasm ... I really do.
