I'm sure it will have its own forum like the 747, Turboprops, NG for FS9, etc. I do not speak for PMDG, but as it's their standard, I don't know why it would change with the NGX.Happy flights!

We will most likely have an NGX dedicated sub forum, but we won't be restricting it to licensed users. We have nothing to hide.

We don't do private forums that are only accessible to people who bought the airplane. It creates a headache for us moderators to do this, but we feel it's important that people have the full picture on what's being said before they purchase.

Oh yes you have :) The pogostick :)

I would love a private forum. Would ensure no users using pirated copies could get access to support, and would keep out alot of the trolls. The Level D forums are a testament to this.

+1. It could be a forum that anybody can read, but only licensed users would be able to post.

Pirates will be, so or so...What Tabs stated is also my opinion. There is so many Software around today, who was sold with full price and in real it is a beta from the beta....Forums are quite interresting (-and really important: gives me the reason to buy or not to buy) to read for what is going on "behind" the walls of a company and how much care is taken to the customer (support)...

The way others have done it is to have a general area where pre purchase questions can be asked. Surely this is the best of both worlds? An area where a potential customer can get all the information they want to make a decision on whether to buy or not, and a licensed area for technical discussion, repaints etc, and product support for those who have paid for the product. :(

I don't understand why a user would be pro-private forum. I've bought other birds, had some problems, gone into the user only forum and then found out that everyone has this problem, and the only solution is to either live with it or some PITA mod or further add-on or work around. In some of these cases, I regret having purchased the software. So, by and large, now I avoid software that doesn't have an open users forum. I understand the piracy concerns and they are real, but an open forum shows a level of confidence in the product that I respect from PMDG, and others.

That's the reason you're required to sign your full name. They cross check their purchase database to ensure you're actually a customer.

Ding Ding Ding!Having the forums open gives potential buyers a look at possible issues but more importantly it shows the great customer service PMDG provides.

Cheers!

And all the er, drama, you get in these forums isn't a headache as is? :( I don't think any of the companies with closed forums are doing so to "hide" anything, they are limiting their bandwidth to supporting only paying customers. You gotta admitthere is something to that approach. It also limits the trolls.... Still, I see the otherside as well, and I'm happy with either choice. An afterthought: maybe the optimal would be a read only forum for all, with posting restrictedto verified customers... not aware of anyone that has tried that.
