Roll Rate and Elevator

Featured Replies

If you haven't flown a real 210 it's really difficult to judge.By just reducing the elevator effectiveness you reduce the available (and neccessary) pitch authorityFor more substantial changes you would need to go into the air file and experiment with the elevator lift and pitch moments like CL_de, CL_q, CL_adot, Cmo, Cm_adot, Cm_de, Cm_dT, Cmq_dT. Problem is that these values not always do what the description says.I haven't installed the 210 anymore but if there's at least one active 210 pilot around who would do actual test flights and answers my questionnaire, I could make a completely new flight model if there's enough demand.
Hi dear Bernt!count me in this! would be great! Many greetings!Andreas EDDN

Best regards,

I have flown a C172 plenty of times and from the quotes above it would seem that pitch control is on par if not heavier than a C172. I can assure you that a C172 does NOT dance around on the elevator like this C210 does. However, Carenado is saying this is true to RW.

Oh well, just received a PM that there are 2 RW 210 pilots who would do the neccessary test flying....Guess I've got something to do soon....BTW, if someone has connections to an active (or even ex) RW 337 pilot, please PM me. Best regardsBernt

Bernt, any update on this? A tweaked FDE by yourself would be a rather large motive to buying the T210M. I have stayed away so far, given the issues with the current FDE apparently. Andrew

I wouldnt let the current FDE stop you buying the 210. Its not in bad shape as it is.

No news concerning the pilot reports yet. As Glenn said, the present FDs are definitely ok. E.g. the higher rollrate shouldn't be noticable in normal day to day ops anyway.

Cheers you two. Perhaps I will take the plunge in a couple of weeks. Andrew

Any more news on this please, last feedback report was 1st Sept 2011 ?I bought the CT210M after reading the Review in Avsim recently and regretted it after my very first flight. This Elevator issue makes hand flying the Centurion practically impossible, thats after adjusting the Elevator 'Slope' in FSUIPC to as much as 8.I appreciate this may be realistic to the real aircraft and if so I would definitely have taken the aircraft back to the supplier for a full refund. But programming this twitchy elevator into a Carenado simulation with all the various types of joysticks out there is in my opinion is an error of judgement. To make things even worse there is no option to select Hectopascals (hPa) in the Altimeter, so if you fly outside of the US you are stuffed.Definitely not one of my best Carenado purchases.Glen

I'd be interested to hear about (and get), any updated FDE files for the 210 from Bernt as well, as I spend quite a bit of time flying this plane along with the 208 since I got Bernt's fabulous FDE work for it...

The new FDEs for the default 208, Rick Pipers DHC-1 and the Carenado C185 are available at simviation.com and flightsim.com.

The new Carenado C208, V35 and F33 FDEs can be downloaded from the Carenado update page.
