July 17, 201114 yr it's amazing!!!:( good news... now i will operate in Santos Dumont Aiport without concern... one question: GOL is a exclusive operator of "SFP"?I know that GOL with boeing developed this aircraft together. So, any more airline can use this aircraft or only GOL?

July 17, 201114 yr Jane, can you tell me what the shortest distance is on which you can stop the aircraft? please?RegardsEmanuel Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
July 17, 201114 yr Author Commercial Member Jane, can you tell me what the shortest distance is on which you can stop the aircraft? please?RegardsEmanuelhey Emanuel,Of course, aircraft weight, winds, weather and lots of other factors play into that. However, I have read of a lightly loaded 800 stopping in 4100ft with this short field kit. It would be interesting if anyone has any figures for an empty aircraft.quite amazing really!all the bestJane - Jane Whittaker
July 17, 201114 yr Author Commercial Member here is a video of a 737-800 getting airborne from the 5100ft (1570m) runway at Skiathos, Greecehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhlmWuI8W9U&feature=relatedI really recommend the Greek Islands for some fun flying in FSX too!JR - Jane Whittaker
July 17, 201114 yr That's insane! what about V1 for this kind of takeoffs? is it lower than usual? it certainly gives the impression that in the event of a RTO they would be in serious trouble
July 17, 201114 yr Commercial Member Jane, can you tell me what the shortest distance is on which you can stop the aircraft? please?RegardsEmanuelI've successfully conducted both takeoffs and landings at SBRJ with it, which has a useful runway distance of just over 4000 feet. July 17, 201114 yr That's insane! what about V1 for this kind of takeoffs? is it lower than usual? it certainly gives the impression that in the event of a RTO they would be in serious troubleNo, V1 is exactly what it should be and I can guarantee you that the balanced field requirements were satisfied - meaning there was enough runway to abort takeoff just at V1. The long telephoto lens shrinks distances so it is impossible to give you true sense of distances. Michael J.
July 17, 201114 yr SFP doesn't help in landing distance. It helps take-off from a short runway where climb gradient isn't a factor. If you're landing on a short runway, you're going to use Flaps 40, SFP-equipped or not. Matt Cee
July 17, 201114 yr Moderator Question - how do you get a 737-800 safely in and out of runways of less than 5000ft in length? This was the question posed by GOL airlines to Boeing when they wished to use the 800NG in and out of the 4800ft runway at Santos Dumont.I can't wait to finally have a jet to fly the Congonhas to Santos Dumont route in FSX as I have missed it since the FS9 days. Now we just need some better version of SBRJ that the older Tropical Sim version that I have been using. Fortunately Newton is re-doing Rio de Janeiro V9 for FSX, hopefully it wont be long. Thanks for all the great posts as of late.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

July 17, 201114 yr I suspect I'm going to show my ignorance here but why does the NG(X) need short performance packages when BA currently fly the common or garden 734 into and out of Gilbraltar every week? Best Regards, Dan Parkin.
