July 27, 201114 yr I like reading long sigs. Especially if one has a million add-ons because then that gives me a chance to look up some of those since I'm always looking for new things to add to FSX. July 27, 201114 yr I agreeShowing how much money parents granted the last Friday is not strictly related to aviation stuff.Told that that's not a important matter as the thread's starter states, that's more a time killer one Mark Fosseth :( I'd say the most of us who have our rigs in the signature and built it ourselves work hard for the hardware we buy. I know I do... Plus the better half of us system builders are 20+.The "kids" you talk about are stuck with 5 year old HPs and Dells, for the most part.Besides that, this isn't only a place for Sim junkies to gather but hardware enthusiast and real pilots, too. There are some grumpy old men in here! Stop attacking the younger crowd... :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 27, 201114 yr The reason I have my PC specs is because my siggy is attached to all the avsim forums, which includes the Hardware forum, one of the many subforums. I am found posting there and the FSX base forum more often than not so that's why I list my specs. This subforum isn't the only forum, check out the list in the lower right corner of your screen. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Then I must admit I have seen too many times Gunny with Clint Eastwood and I feel the same when I see boy-scouts showing their very latest expensive suite paid not by hard work and sacrifices like I assume you did and like others did as well.Mark Fosseth
July 27, 201114 yr Author This is not a real world aviation forum, why post hours and type ratings? This forum is for simmers, simmers use PCs. Why not state specs?Ben Thomson160 hours PPL (keeping with the OPs requests) B)C'mon Ben, gimme a break. :( AVSIM = flight sim forum.PMDG = ummm what, counter strike forum? You perfectly know I what I meant by hours and type ratings. And it is - If I have a question the differences between VNAV logic of 747 compared to the 737 for example, would be nice to know who here actually flies them and how much experience they have on their flight decks. Just a thought. Their PSU, case and free HDD space??? is totally irrelevant information, which in fact perfectly fits the......drums roll...The Fabulous About Me page in everyone's profile. B) Don't get me wrong, PC specs are useful in many situations, they just need a trim. At least put them in fine print or don't put every single component on new line or whatever. :( As I've said, it's everyone's choice. If you do not like them then just go into your settings and turn off forum signatures, then you don't ever have to see one again Mr. Beggs, you are my new hero! :( blue skiesIgnat
July 27, 201114 yr A reasonable signature like mine or Zach's (or the majority of the other users in the forum) is perfectly reasonable and helpful IMO. As for system specs, they come in handy all the time. Like Ryan B. pointed out, some of us post in the HW forum too. What if there was a thread about MD-11 performance and I said that I get 30 FPS and no stutters when I fly into FSDT JFK. Wouldn't you want to know what kind of system was being referred to? Anyway, it is pointless to argue, but i shared my 2c nonetheless. Please enjoy my signature. ^You'd need a magnifying glass to even read my banner. :( Edited July 27, 201114 yr by Efussander Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
July 27, 201114 yr Jeepers crimeny... we shouldn't have specs in signatures because it's a PC flight sim forum... you're going to have to read about people's systems. And banners are typically LINKS to one image, so you don't get to count those over and over again.I suddenly have this urge to update my sig with my system specs... humiliating as they may be. I enjoy looking at the rigs other people have built and hearing the performance they get out of it because in the next year or so I'm likely going to be building one myself. As of right now, all I have is my full name, so that I am in compliance with forum rules. July 27, 201114 yr I feel a sig is a good way to show off what you have and it also allows for easier troubleshooting should you have an problems with the respective companies software. July 27, 201114 yr People ran out of things to complain about over the NGX delay, so now we have to complain about forum signatures?.....really?Why was this thread even created. This thread is a waste of bandwidth. AJ Pongress
July 27, 201114 yr The OP should just turn off this setting and then he wouldn't need to worry any more about such a trivial matter: Board Display SettingsView members' signatures when reading topics?

July 27, 201114 yr The OP should just turn off this setting and then he wouldn't need to worry any more about such a trivial matter: Board Display SettingsView members' signatures when reading topics?Yup!I post what I want in my sig because I want to and am allowed to. End.That too.If the underlying agenda of the OP is to say that folks with flashy signatures are show offs, congrats. You are without a doubt the most mature, non annoying person here. We know. Duh :( Reminds me of a Family Guy episode where Peter Griffin starts a ridiculous show segment called "What Really Grinds My Gears". Someone will appreciate that.... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 27, 201114 yr It's really funny that all the people defending sigs are the one with long sigs and the other agreeing with the post don't have any or minimal. :Just Kidding:Joe Inama Thanks, Joe Inama
