August 3, 201114 yr Why bother spending your time typing all these then? For people who has home built cockpit, do they ever see their plane from the cockpit..? If you can see your plane from the cockpit (or parts of it) something somewhere went terrible wrong befor.......... Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
August 3, 201114 yr Hehe, but isn't watching the planes part of love for aviation? And if you really try you should see some parts of wings from cockpit. And I agree, OP isn't trolling at all, the whole idea makes sense for home cockpits builders, but they are minority within minority, those toys are simply to expensive for most.
August 3, 201114 yr If you can see your plane from the cockpit (or parts of it) something somewhere went terrible wrong befor.......... Well, you can see the wing tips on the NGX, as well as the forward passenger doors if they are open. On other aircraft you might see the nose cone. You can definitely see part of the airplane from the cockpit. Cristi Neagu
August 3, 201114 yr Would you put a Ferrari engine in your Toyota Camry? I'd like to think that one of the top tier, if not the best, add on developer for flight sim has considered all the options that the Monday morning quarterbacks throw out on a whim. After all, they are in this for profit and their livelihood depends on understanding their marketplace. While those attempting to suggest business model changes risk nothing... the exception being scrutiny on a forum. Apologies if this post comes across rather brash, I just think that companies like PMDG don't sit at the top of the heap by making miscalculated decisions. Cheers! August 3, 201114 yr I do see the option however at install maybe, if that is possible...after all, it's all personal preference! Rgds - Sam Harridann
August 3, 201114 yr That is the stupidest thing I have heard all day. +1 If you can´t read it, you can´t fly it. Real world B777F pilot
August 3, 201114 yr Hello, Here I came an idea for PMDG with their future products, to make the aeroplane Virtual Cockpit only without modeling the exterior. This will reduce large amount of developing time and also the 'real' simulators cost millions don't come with an exterior, do they? Maybe it's not a good idea for some people but we can always 'merge' with other freeware products, such as POSKY, considering they've already got an awesome 777 exterior. Just my 2 pennies,Cheers That has to be one of the most ridiculous things i've ever heard what would be the point of such a thing?
August 3, 201114 yr I do see the option however at install maybe, if that is possible...after all, it's all personal preference! Unnecessary IMHO. The exterior model is not there in VC view, so it's not using resources. If they're going to need to make it anyway, for those who want to install it, same resources/developement time goes to the external model as now, but they have to add the feature to the installer so those who don't want it can save a couple of MB in their HDD... if you don't want to see it, don't switch to external view! it's not that hard

August 3, 201114 yr unfortunately the exterior model does affect FPS even on the 2d panel. It doesn't (IMO!). Parts that are visible from cockpit are part of interior model, resulting in affecting performance (I hope it makes sense).
August 3, 201114 yr Author It doesn't (IMO!). Parts that are visible from cockpit are part of interior model, resulting in affecting performance (I hope it makes sense). I don't really understand as well. But once I 'merged' the 744 with POSKY 744v4 and I saw a significant increase on FPS( about 5~8) . Z. C
August 3, 201114 yr I also kind of agree. I have no interest in an exterior model whatsoever, other than when I feel like taking screen shots. Even then the difference between a low poly AI model and something like the upcoming NGX doesn't concern me. Generally all I want in an aircraft is a highly detailed VC and well modelled systems. Not really sure what people use an external model for. Clearly I'm in the minority though as most of you seem to go nuts for detailed models and HD paints ect, so I'll retire to my VC now i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
August 3, 201114 yr Actually the 747-8i expansion improves FPS by a 10-20%, yepFunny cause that's the reason why I got it
August 3, 201114 yr I fly in the VC but I love being able to see my replays and such. It's fun when you grease a landing and just want to see that again before you taxi to the gate and shutdown.
August 3, 201114 yr It's fun when you grease a landing and just want to see that again before you taxi to the gate and shutdown. You mean before you retract the flaps, check the replay only to see yourself on approach with flaps up looking stupid :( Jay Vorkapic
