Future products without exterior model

Featured Replies

Hello, Here I came an idea for PMDG with their future products, to make the aeroplane Virtual Cockpit only without modeling the exterior. This will reduce large amount of developing time and also the 'real' simulators cost millions don't come with an exterior, do they?tongue.png Maybe it's not a good idea for some people but we can always 'merge' with other freeware products, such as POSKY, considering they've already got an awesome 777 exterior. Just my 2 pennies,Cheers

I think 90% of the time goes into making virtual cockpit and other systems. But also exterior model even though it's not easy to model but does not require very long time to make...at least for me :)

Are you mad?! ohmy.pngmellow.pngblink.pngbiggrin.png Apart from the walkaround being an integral part of a realistic simming experience, appreciating the aesthetics of a beautiful aircraft is also a very important element of my love for aviation. I simply wouldn't buy an aircraft without an external model. It would be an incomplete product, because aviation means so much more to me than just sitting in the pit and going through the motions.

I know I am being madLOL.gif I don't even how I came up with this idea...Personally I'd love to have a very accurate model with a high definition texture, and that's how PMDG's exteriors currently look like and we've seen the progress of their improvements!Maybe for home-cockpit makers they don't even need a Virtual Cockpit, but for most of us who sit in front of a computer screen all the time, an exterior is essential and that's a part of FS which has been there for years...Calm down, this is only a discussion...LOL.gif

Hmmm....maybe they could do a level-d sim exterior? That would certainly be something different...a sim within a sim... Just kidding, of course! Would it be actually possible to make something in FSX that stays put in the external views, but moves through the flightsim-world in the interior views? Martijn

Well the real level d sims have no exterior model yeah (or very basic in the term like our new airbus sim)...but the real plane does :( are we simulating a simulator or a real plane? Hehe

+1 very well said ;)

I kinda agree and disagree on this one.. It should be an option on the installer, if you wish the ext. or not - Homebuilders doesnt need this However, for us which don't own a homecockpit the ext model is nice to have

In my opinion, PMDG do a superb job of everything and I, as well as many others appreciate that style. They don't need to change, they already have it 'spot-on'.

That is the stupidest thing I have heard all day.
Why bother spending your time typing all these then? For people who has home built cockpit, do they ever see their plane from the cockpit..?

Very nice post. I started from the point of the level-d simulator but I completely agree with you now.

Interesting idea - the OP is obviously neither stupid nor trolling. I can see why some flight sim "purists" might like this approch, although I prefer an external model, even if I don't look at it all that often.
