Horrifying FPS!

Featured Replies

Everyone said FPS was great! yeah...nah. Im getting about 5-15fps on default scenery in the day with display settings mostly at the middle to bottom. To put this into context, i used to get 25-30 fps in addon scenery on mid to high settings. Seriously? Why has the NGX stolen so many fps?AND, i get random crashes sometimes with out of memory error which I very rarely got before, now its all the time.Any help appreciated! Great disappointment not being able to fly this thing after spending $70! :@ SPECS:Intel Core2Duo 2.93Ghz2gb DDR2 RamNvidia 9400GT

Your PC specs are not the best so with an addon this advanced low FPS are expectedYou are barely at the MinimumsOS: Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 (latest service packs), Flight Simulator X with SP2 or Acceleration installed.Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD equivalentRAM: 2GB if only running the NGX, 4GB if running other addons (scenery, traffic etc)Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible with 512MB of video memory (examples: Nvidia 8800GT, AMD/ATI Radeon 4870)

Nick, Have you read the intro documentation that came with the NGX? There is a section in there that covers performance and getting the most out of the NGX. Have a read and see if you can improve things on your end. We strongly suggest that EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY read the Introduction documentation before they fly the NGX, its a must. Cheers,

You need more memory, and preferably a 64-bit OS. Your specs are at the minimum level, so I wouldn't expect great things. Most users are reporting great framerates.

Did you look at the minimum spec requirements on PMDG's website before you purchased?

Yeah to be honest i was quite suprised at how much you can turn off and get away with

FSX needs a CPU that can run as fast as possible. If you never overclocked then you can look into that or get newer hardware. It stinks that it's that way but unfortunately it is. This is one of the main reasons I've been a proponent to dump the outdated code out of FS that tries to do it all and create modules that leverage libraries and hardware to do the work. The hope is that the Flight team hopefully got smarter to finally realize this as well as able to. In the meantime FSX is what it is.

Can this introduction be read online pre-purchase?

thanks for the prompt replies.Yes, did do the steps in the documentation. And ok, i need more ram. I can get 4gb for $55 but then i need to get a 64bit OS because of 32bit memory limitations. And i don't have that kind of money (as im 16). Im just shocked that i went from 30fps to 10fps.

IMO. Way understaed the minimums. The "Highly recommended" perhaps should have been the minimums! By the way. What is i7 Sandy Bridge or "better"?
No. The problem is people expect miracles on 4 year old hardware. The OPs hardware is going to need heavy tweaking to run decently.
