hi I downloaded the trial and it immediately crashes on startup. I tried to register on the Aivlasoft support forum but up to now my registration has not been activated. So, it seems to be a great piece of software and I would like to use the opportunity to participate in the 20% discount since it is quite pricey, but until now I had no success. All my other add-ons function perfectly (PMDG, Aerosoft, RealAir, Rex, Orbx)... Malan

Yes, that happens if you rush to install it before reading the installation document. I did that too. The installation guide tells you it needs DontNet3.5 installed first. I didn't even think of that because i already had DotNet 1, 2, 3 and 4 installed. It is very picky needing 3.5, but at least it does tell you. Give it a try. Once that's done it runs perfectly. Malan, Sorry that you're having problems. If Pete's suggestion doesn't correct the installation, please check to see if you have any logfiles in your \Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Logfiles\ folder. If you do, then please zip them and email to [email protected] and Urs will begin to diagnose the problem. Regards,

Travis: I don't have any log files (I think Pete is right in that it crashes while loading the .NET framework) - I will drop a mail to Urs with everything I tried. Thanks for the help. Still hoping to get it this weekend, regardsMalan

Even more pleased with EFB since I have it installed on a second computer working seamlessly with FSX on the other. No more switching. Menno

Listing the .Net framework folders probably doesn't indicate that it is installed correctly. Possibly the registry links it needs are broken. The best way to check these things usually is to view the Programs & Features list via the Settings Control Panel, but even that might not tell the whole truth.. Also, the .Net framework 3.5 I had to install was SP1, so I wonder if you just need to update it? Just in case the registry items for it are broken, try uninstalling 3.5 (only) and installing the 3.5 SP1 version afresh. RegardsPete

I had a few problems to start with when first installing this addon. Eh-hem! All of which were problems at my end. The 3.5 Net Framework installation does appear to be a MUST. HOWEVER, I have found there to be absolutely nothing else like this addon. Whatever issues you have, please do persevere to get it sorted. I'm sure you'll not regret it. I've heard a number of people say (including myself!); that it's a bit expensive for my tastes; think I'll stick with x, y, or z program, that does just the same. Well, take it from one of those quoters who has most of those other addons, EFB does and gives considerably more. As most who know me will agreeWhistle.gif I can be a harsh critique(?). It's really not that often I sing the praises of much. If I like it, I just use it! EFB however, is a little different. It really got my attention. Every time I use it, I get another of those; 'Oh wow - it does THAT!' No, I'm not involved in any way what-so-ever with AivlasoftLOL.gif

hi all I found the cure - apparently I am an idiot who don't read properly Worried.gif . I downloaded the cumulative update and not the original installer. This installs and runs, but of course certain files are missing and this is the reason for the crash on startup. I took some time (thanks for tips guys) but I finally noticed the problem when looking through the capture file of Process Monitor from SysInternals and noticed it does not find some files. Then I tried the install on my wife's PC and noticed the same problem Loser.gif and thought the install file must be corrupt. A re-visit to the website and I noticed that the file I downloaded is half the size of the file on the web Shocked.gif So - now to finish everything and test this baby out! Thanks for all the help & moral support guys, Malan

Good to hear. Everything I need to exist with FSX I learned in Kindergarden. 1. Be nice to all the other kids.2. Read when it is your turn.3. Hold up your hand and ask a question if you don't know how to do something.4. Say Thank You. Angel.gif Ray

I downloaded the trial last night, setup the display unit on my MacBook running XP through VMWare Fusion while having the processor on my FSX machine. Took one flight from KSBP to KLAS in the NGX and was immediately hooked! A REALLY slick program! I've used FSBuild for years, but I think I've found a replacement. :D I'm one of those who struggles with the SIDS/STARS stuff and in my brief flight last night, EFB allowed me to visualize things a bit better than trying to sort it out in the NGX FMC. I'm not a pro at flight planning stuff by any stretch and tend to just pop DEP, ARR, CRZ ALT, and type/weight in FSBuild and let it do it's thing, but I'm curious why FSBuild routes work perfectly fine in the NGX and don't if done by EFB. Doesn't lessen the appeal at all, just curious. ;)

Vroute exports to the NGX just fine as well. I asked them how the guys at Vroute got this to work so quickly and got a smart*** remark, "Why don't you ask them?" Cute remark for $70. Anyway, I'm sure it will all work out.

My FSBuild plans worked fine from the very first moment I loaded up the NGX on release night. At the time, I was still using the 2.3 version of FSBuild (I hadn't sought an update for it since last year IIRC; upgraded to 2.4 this week). Not a dig on EFB by any stretch as I'm behind the times on these things anyway, I was just curious.

Phil, Malan, Ray, Scott, Thanks for your kind comments. They are appreciated! --- All, I'm the one who wrote the EFB flightplan handler for the PMDG RTE files. Any failure of it to do what it should do falls squarely on my misunderstanding of the PMDG format. Late last year, I asked PMDG via email (and recently via PM on the forum here) for any details or documentation on their flightplan formats. Apparently I used a bad / unmonitored email address, so I have not received an answer. Last weekend one of our customers opened a support ticket with PMDG, giving them my contact information and asking if they could share that information with me directly. Our customer was told that we should ask them after next Monday August 22nd. I will be on holiday then, but will ask them likely early Tuesday morning. When I return from a few days off, I will review the response and see what needs to happen. (Unless Urs beats me to it. rolleyes.gif) Regards,
