September 15, 201114 yr Well this one is getting out of hand! I've seen a few "valid" arguments either way (didn't know there were two sides to this debate in these forums), but here's why I support AOPA's stance and their lobbying: I'm a RW GA pilot in the US. My education has literally depended on GA. Naturally I'll support the contenders in GA's corner. Ron summed up that point nicely. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 15, 201114 yr Sorry if this offends you ....It doesn't offend me: it just disappoints me when people think it's reasonable to make assertions without bothering to provide any evidence themselves to support them. Gerry Howard

September 15, 201114 yr Mgh, I am not sure what purpose this latest path you've embarked on serves, but your specific question about what governmental intervention/regulation/intrustion have been placed was answered back on page 3. I will copy and post the list of items again here in case you somehow are unable to view that post. Closing of DCA to general aviation for several months.SFRAGreatly increased TFRssecurity class requirementsaccess restrictionsHope this helps.
September 16, 201114 yr I am annoyed how 'our' president is continually making an attack on business jet owners and the people that support them. Without them I wouldn't be flying the aircraft. I wouldn't have had a line service job. I wouldn't have anyone that wanted flight instruction so they could own their own aircraft. Lastly without these jobs I would've had no money to pay taxes for all these stupid programs he is proposing. 2012 will not come soon enough! I don't think there is a short bus short enough for 'our' man in charge. Chris Miller

September 16, 201114 yr Moderator The most recent political comments from the President have harmed rather than helped the Industry... All of which is bitterly ironic coming as it does from one of the world's most highly visible "corporate jet user..." Fr. September 17, 201114 yr Would you rather wait until until there is an actual attack using GA? Can you image what the response then would be? Far worse than a warning notice. I now nothing about charges in the US but Imagine, as always, there will be two sides to the argument. Who twisted Exxon's arm to force it to stop selling GA fuel? Maybe it decided it could get a better return elsewhere. Trucks have been used for attacks many times, yet I still see them everywhere. The bomb in Oslo was even placed in a regular van. You can fit a lot more explosives into a van than something like a Cessna, and it's easier for someone to drive it close to a crowd of people without raising suspicions. I'm not even going to get in to guns, which is a whole different can of worms.. But suffice to say, I think more people have died as a result of attacks with guns than attacks with Cessnas. -

Or do you really believe that if a GA aircraft were to be flown into a tower in New York no additional restrictions would be applied to GA operations? Gerry Howard
