I was one of the first ones to install the hotfix Paul and did exactly that, suppose not many read my post regarding that. It is a safe way of satisfying the update, that's for sure.

Most will probably just ignore us Julian cause they are too lazy to do it the proper way and would rather take the short cut. Then they wonder why their aircraft.cfg files did not update and/or still having crashes and freezes.

As one of the afore mentioned "too lazy" individuals i followed the instructions provided by...you know the developer i have included them below: "INSTALL NOTES:==============This installer will search for your flight simulator installation as itis reported by the registry on your machine. If you have moved yourflight simulator installation, or if you deleted it and re-installedin a new location without updating the registry on your computer, youmay be told by this installer that it cannot find your MSFS installation. If this message is displayed, you must manually navigate the installerso that it points to your default MSFS installation directory, or thisairplane will not install correctly." Please point out were it says to uninstall the aircraft. Now i do remember reading about removing the liveries, which of course i did. How many patches require you to uninstall the application, i can just see people being delighted to remove Windows every few days due to Microsoft patches! I am not saying that your information is wrong, just a little offensive in how it's phrased!

I didn't say anything about deleting anything in the registry. If you just uninstall the NGX and reinstall without messing with the registry you won't even be prompted for the registration code and it is the smoothest and most hassle free way to go. Only took me 15 min to do it all in one shot and get back to flying. The registry entries are not removed when you uninstall the NGX, so your key is still in there. Now what if you had encountered a problem doing the short cut? Your wasting an hour or more and pulling your hair out which wouldn't have happened if your had just did it the smart way. The choice is yours.

+1 to what Gyln said.

This new hotfix is nothing but a problem. Fsx crashed 3 times while trying to select the plane, and then after finally getting that to work, it freezes Fsx and crashes my computer. It was perfect with hotfix 3.
Please don't take this the wrong way. But you really ought to post your system specs'. This is very helpful when trying to track downthe source of a problem.

Well I got it to load and it runs pretty good, except now my LNAV/VNAV won't engage, and the pfd says no v speeds even though they are selected. Any ideas?

With relation to hotfix's i haven't even bothered. I got into NGX about 2 weeks after it was released and had a few issues with the initial download. I installed the first hotfix avail at the time and ever since then i have not had one issue, not even a minor display issue or anything. I am not going to tempt fate with trying a hotfix. As someone previously said - if it aint broke dont fix it. I simply love NGX and now i cant fly any other aircraft. Flying this kite manually or on full auto is a dream, nearly as good as flying the real thing! Donald Duck (Ben Morton)

Same with me the "hotfix" was not so hot for me I finally had to reinstall 737 NGX again and I put the earlier hotfix back on. Good to go I'm staying away from that one.

HF4 seems to be working great for me. I never messed with the cfg or anything. Installed it, removed liveries with the manager after HF4 install, then installed new ones and got on FSX. DId a couple flights and all is well. Goes to show how unpredictable all this is and how hard it is to get it working for EVERYONE...

Best way to install hotfix 4 with a minimum of hassle is to uninstall the NGX completely first. Reinstall with NGX installer, Hot Fix 4, and then Liveries last. So if your having crashes or freezes after installing the hotfix 4 then try that.
Thx for the tip, whats the best way to delete the ngx using the ngx installer or using the control panel ( remove/add option)

You don't need to do that now, Capt RSR said they have changed the install routine to delete the air configs, so uninstalling is not needed now, FYI
