November 3, 201114 yr Hi Dirk, sure, I mean that without using RejectThreshold=32750 in my cfg, then I lose 25-30% of performance and also increase in stutters! I spent weeks tweaking the value, I almost gave up, and then suddenly this value worked. Don't know why or how, 'cos some guys have said it doesn't make sense, but I can promise you it works fine for me. Having said that, it's unlikely that someone else will find the same degree of success as me by using this value, as all rigs are different. My test was sat at the end of the runway at Innsbruck, in the VC, with obviously the same parameters elsewhere. Without the RejectThreshold value I was getting 22 frames and with the tweak it jumped to around 28!Now I see I'll have to muddle with my settings and see what works for me.Thank you, Howard.Dirk.
November 4, 201114 yr I must just be lucky, because I haven't had to mess around with config tweaks on either of the two PCs with which I have used FSX. All I have done with my current i5 2500k powered PC is increase the LOD radius to 5.5. I notice minor stutters now and again in very high detail areas, but they aren't anything to worry about, and certainly do not affect my ability to control the plane in any way whatsoever. Mind you, I have also never had to defrag my single hard disk on a regular basis either. It makes me wonder whether I am living in a parallel universe..... November 4, 201114 yr Lokk here: I have the same issues! Looking at the video it seems you can have (also?) texture loading timeout problems.Try to change the parameter swapwaittimeout in [Terrain] section from a value of 2 (if you used bojote tool you should have 2) to 5 or 10 (the default) o r even more.It solved a similar problem for me.Good luck and soft landings. November 4, 201114 yr Every PC is different, that's just a fact of the real world. What works for one person may do nothing for the next. Having worked in computers for over 15 years that fact is just another day for me. - Aaron
November 4, 201114 yr The performance and smoothness with UsePools=0 is incredible but it can cause artifacts. I am one of the lucky ones I guess. Both my scenery complexity and autogen density is full right, and this is with FTX PNW, and also flying a medium complexity aircraft along with UT2 100%. Even with an i7 2600k @4.7, if I try using the BP options or any other settings other than the UsePools, the smoothness goes into the toilet unless I knock my complexity settings way down. My GPU has 1280meg so I am sure this helps considerably. I use the Nicks recommendations for GPU settings.Boy am I spoiled with this.Bob Officially retired
November 4, 201114 yr I decided today to try BP=0 once more and I was surprised of the results. It worked! BP=0 really changed things for me as performance improved, but more importantly all the blurries were gone. Now game loads sharp textures all around me and there is only slight noticeable delay when rapidly changing outside views in certain situations. There are no hiccups whatsoever even in ORBX PF, heavy weather and REX2 4096 textures. Silky smooth, without blurries even in quite fast aircraft (P-51) - and absolutely awesome!I don't know what I've changed in my config compared to the situation couple of weeks ago when I failed with PB=0. I have installed SM 3.0 mod a couple of days ago and disabled some of Bojote's tweaks from his automated config, but alltogether very slight changes. I don't know and I don't care I noticed also strangest thing today, although it has happened to me once or twice before. I loaded a flight in PF and I got really bad performance in bad weather and terrible graphic glitches from BP=0. I was totally amazed as it was working fine just few hours before. I checked GPU load from Afterburner and it was peaking 100% as it otherwise stays somewhere between 50-70%. I also noticed that GPU temps rose very little and fan didn't accelerate as it usually does when temp goes up with GPU load. I concluded that FSX didn't cause graphic card drivers to kick in higher GPU and MEM clocks from desktop mode, so my GTX480 was really struggling with the game. It actually run pretty decent with fair weather on, but graphic glitches were enormous and load was 100% all the time. Restarting of the game might be enough, but I rebooted whole computer and after that everything worked fine and I was back in BP=0 heaven. I had never had this sort of problem with any other game or 3D accelerated app.
