November 8, 201114 yr I've been printing out many SID'S, STAR'S and approach plates, but I'm thinking of buying a small 7" tablet and downloading all the .pdf files. Anyone else going paperless, and is it worth it? Curt Branch

November 8, 201114 yr I'm using pdfs only. I keep them on my secondary monitor. There's also a freeware gauge for displaying PDFs in the sim out there, http://code.google.com/p/fscode/wiki/PDFKneeboard Johan Pettersen

Just another cash crop....So print those plates! Seriously, I'd love a SID/STAR app for my HTC phone. Might be a bit hard on the old mince pies though..Ian
November 8, 201114 yr "Never mind the trees", An EFB is a lot more practical too, especially since all plates get automatically updated with a single AIRAC cycle. Guess that's why the Boeing and Airbus are including them in their newer aircraft.Cheers,- jahman.
November 8, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll give the EFB demo a try, and see how that goes. Curt Branch

November 8, 201114 yr I've been printing out many SID'S, STAR'S and approach plates, but I'm thinking of buying a small 7" tablet and downloading all the .pdf files. Anyone else going paperless, and is it worth it?I've been paperless for years - I have multiple monitors and multiple computers and the last thing I need is more paper around the house... there are many sources for pdfs of approach charts and enroute charts in the US and abroad. Most are free and those that aren't, or are difficult to obtain, are mostly available from software like Navigraph's nDac application. nDac has its limitations but is convenient and generally adequate within its limits. I have the Aviasoft EFB, but am only moderately impressed with it since it uses the Navigraph data which is frequently incorrect. I much prefer the official plates and charts where obtainable.DJ

I just installed this freeware gauge, and it's actually perfect for what I was looking for. I may still give the EFB program a look, but this gauge works far better than I imagined. Curt Branch
November 10, 201114 yr 7ich display could be to small seeing difficult, complex plates. I am using 10inch for navigation and flight plan and I am very pleased with it. Bartłomiej Ender

November 10, 201114 yr I've got all my charts online (US and some on vatsim charts) via s second hand (and I mean old school) PC connected to a small LCD monitor. The PC was free and the monitor about 180 bucks, I use Synergy+ to network the PC to my main PC so I can share keyboard and mouse input via a single kb/mouse. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
