Alarm goes off midflight for no reason

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what alarm is randomly going off midflight? I dont see any amber or red warning lights anywhere, and suddenly I just get the overthrottle alarm as if i was on the ground and put N1 at 100% with flaps up. If I press Y and enter slew mode and then press Y again and exit slew mode the alarm goes off. anyone know?

yes it is the take off alarm, and it happens after about 23 - 25,000 + Feet. I wonder why I wasnt pressurized... I guess i must not be setting it correctly, although I have it set to auto?

You are turning the PACKS back on after engine start, right? I was forgetting that quite frequently in my first few flights on this bird missing FS2Crew I had gotten used to on the iFly.Eric Szczesniak

Make sure you set your pressurisation panel correctly, put in the cruise level and destination altitude.

And turn on the left and right packs after a packs off take off. As mentioned, a common mistake. Done it a couple of times, only to hear the warning come on. Andrew

Something to note is that the takeoff configuration warning horn and the cabin altitude alarm are exactly the same sound. It's caused enough problems in the real plane that the new ones actually have lights that will tell you if it the takeoff config or cabin altitude.

On the 'real' aircraft you normally have the packs on (auto) during takeoff to prevent just this problem.Pack-off takeoffs are only conducted on airports where you really need all the performance you can get (short runway, high elevation + heavy weight).Just put the packs on (auto) after engine start and put them off when you are parked at the gate.

I had the same problem with the 800WL, even if I did everything correctly preparing the plane before take off it won't pressurize. It didn't happen with any other variant only the 800WL. The alarm goes off at take off and then after 18,000 feet. The only fix I could find was to re-install the aircraft again and it was solved.

As you described it it seems to be a double user error, not a wrong installation, but as the NGX is a complex simulation, an installation error is possible. Before take off the TO WARN will sound if throttles are advanced AND:-Speed brakes are out of the DOWN detend or there is pressure to the ground spoiler system (more than 750PSI)-Flaps are out of TO range (depending on model) and without asymmetry condition or uncommanded motion-Stab trim out of green band-one of the LE devices is still in transit or in uncommanded motion-Parking brake setThe warning is removed when all conditions above are safe for TO.The warning (Witout Master caution) will come back on when altitude in the cabin (wich normally is different from outside) is over 10000 ft.This condition is possible if one or a combination of these things happen:-Packs are both OFF-Eng. bleed OFF (with APU not running, APU bleed + eng bleeds off if apu running)-Pressurization controller in manual position and outflow valve open more than required.-Something left open :D-An active failure. If all the above conditions are avoided, you sould not ear the warning. If yes, it's an installation problem.

Engine Bleed Off take-offs can help get you better performance. Pack-off (unpressurized) is a bad day when you've got the APU MEL'd and you need the extra performance.
