The screenshot is on my computer - I can´t seem to upload a shot to this forum - it asks me for a URL, seems like a complicated process.Jan

That was the hint I needed :-) Thanks! Will do a couple more for you guys.

I wish there was a way people who had bought XP10 could get rid of the 10 minute joystick limit in the beta/demo, bloody irritating having to save a situation then reload the sim an load the situation again ;)

Cheers, Andy.

Wow, check out the 'Total size of all loaded textures with current settings' on bottom the second picture. That is already beyond the 1gig I have on my vcard, also this is with 'Compress textures to save ram' enabled.

Thanks!Anyway, it is not quite possible to really give a substantiated benchmark on fps. It is just too dependent on where you fly and what kind of rendering load you put upon your system. I am quite sure that you will be able to sustain 40+ fps everywhere IF you are ready to scale down and limit visibility to maybe 5NM...in an average situation you can maybe keep that with 20NMs. (i5 2500k + Ge560TI)Jan
OK thanks Jan.

Thanx smile.pngOut of interest - what is the maximum setting for visibility?

Alright, here some more. First two shots are always the rendering options and the wxr menu. Then the screenshot itself. Here is the second shot:Jan

Thank you for the screen shots and discussion. I am downloading now. Even with FIOS my download is estimated to take 11 hours! Any advice on improving my chances of flying XP10 today? 5 simultaneous servers at 40 kb/second...

Use Bittorrent I suppose. I am get varying speeds between 100 and 300 kb/sec and you avoid sever errors too.

Tom just a suggestion that may aid your development/debug efforts, that maybe you can run up the flag pole. Maybe just for the first couple of releases or maybe until the actual product is released, the demo could be extended to say 20-30minutes. Being a Beta as you refer to it, it will give users a little more time to discover possible problem, that could be reported and fixed early on and stabilize the product quicker . Once the product is released, or whenever Austin feels is right, he can put it back to 10 minutes. Just a suggestion, as I think you'll agree, 10 minutes is a little light if one of the intentions of releasing the demo before release is to get public feedback to debug.
@Tom Kyler,I totally agree with this approach in this early beta stage. Let people take a run at it with several different settings for a longer period of time and then the XP10 can get a larger volume of reports with what is and is not working. Once things are better optimized over time, then the time limit can be set to something more reasonable to meet the purpose of a post-beta demo. I know you would not be the one to make the decision, but it would be great if you could pass along the suggestion if you think it makes sense. Thanks so much.

I dont have it yet. But so far I would recommend that everyone use the torrent, because the estimate using their servers was 26 hours. The one for the torrent is less that 2! (Im getting between 800 and 900 kb/s!) Sadly due to Thanksgiving I wont get to try it till tomorrow...

26 Hours! Wow, I think I will terminate the downloads via multiple servers and go torrent. I'm sure with Thanksgiving there are a ton of us trying to access the files.

It might not matter. Im 1/3 of the way through and my download speed just jumped from 850 kb/s to 10 kb/s. sad.pngedit: back up to the 300-400 kb/s range. I had accidentally unplugged my computer and it had gone into a low performance mode. Still have not gotten back to the 900 range, but I dont really care.

There is a fast mirror on chip.de.http://www.chip.de/d...e_31525841.htmlAt least here in Germany/Europe its faster than my (not so fast) dsl internet connection. 18 minutes left, about 1,5 hours total. Could probably have been much faster if my connection had more bandwidth ...

downloading, german mirror at 1.2mb, 25min for 1.9gig rar file
