NGX VC Rain effect + ETA time out of sync

Featured Replies

FSX just can't handle all those stuff all at once. I think that's gonna cause crashes and very low fps, even on a killer rig. Same for the sun/shadow casting in the cockpit, which is also not possible in FSX.We are in need of a new sim like XPlane 10 or MSFlight. If we have the NGX for such a new platform, it will be so much better. Rain effect on the windows, sun shining into the cockpit, etc.

I use the HUD but they should just make an " rain effect option" in the CDU. I agree that the rain effect is a realistic item that should be included.

It seems there is a lot of consensus on this intriguing matter, few more and I would start a poll on that.

Ho guys, any rumors on this side? Maybe sp2 could introduce rain drops effect?

As I understand it they have said the rain drops effect will not be implemented because they have already used most or all of the effects available for a single simulation in FSX. Sorry for the lack of,technical detail, but do,not expect to see rain drops in NGX.

Would you really prefer to remove a functional unit of the cockpit, and replace it with something cosmetic?

I also think adding the raindrops would cause performance issues and we really don't need that especially on the NGX

I'd like to keep my HUD thank you

We are in need of a new sim like XPlane 10 or MSFlight.

With the advent of companies such as PMDG, ORBX, etc I think that our FSX may never go down, give it some time, maybe there will be changes to the coding of FSX, making all these things possible.

I mean look at what LM did to our dying sim, turned it into something way better.

If the coding for FSX isn't gonna be changed by a company that will actually also sell it to home users, then FSX is gonna go down within a few years. Because we are now approaching the point, where upgrading hardware might actually be a downgrade. Like for example the GTX 680, some results already point out that a GTX 580 is better for FSX. Yes LM have done a great job, but their product isn't really for home users, and if they are not gonna change things then this not be a platform for "us" home pilots.

the HUGS is an optional extra which is rarely fitted by the airlines, and chances are most real world 737NG pilots will never see a HUGS in their careers.

As far as the future of the sim goes, I'm much more interested in paying for P3D than Xplane in it's current form. And Flight is just a joke as far as long haul flying goes. No way I'm paying for each section of the planet to be added little by little. All I've wanted for several years was a supported and updated version of FSX, which is what P3D is offering me right now. Plus, PMDG's continued support of FSX will keep it alive until the time comes that they chose to move away from the platform. I've tried the Xplane demo and I'm just not impressed with it at all.

I think its not possible to make switch between HUGS and rain effect, so unfortunately there will be no rain effect in NGX and probably 777 too

As far as I know there is no vc rain in fsx, has nothing to do with addon aircraft this has been common knowledge for a long time.

Huh? The PMDG JS41 has a rain effect as do a few other addon airplanes.

Just found this:

SDK's are software development kits, the tools that MS provides to all of us (you too can make addons if you have the skills, necessary) to make FS addons.

If an addon plane was designed for FS9 using the FS9 SDK and it has VC rain effects and it is directly ported over to FSX and the necessary VC rain files are copied over, you will have VC rain. If an addon is designed for FSX using the FSX SDK, it will have no rain VC effects.

Google vcrain.zip or rlvcrain.zip and you will find plenty on getting VC rain effects to work on FS9 addons ported over to FSX.
