December 3, 201114 yr Commercial Member .....and to see an Eaglesoft Commercial Member join in, with what is clearly a commercially biased viewpoint; well what a surprise! I am not an Eaglesoft commercial member, nor am I any longer making addons for FS. I wear the commercial member tag simply because I was involved in two commercial products that I'm personally quite proud of and choose to not have the tag changed.I realize you loathe Eaglesoft... but please... keep it to yourself. I'm simply an AVSIM member these days. No more, and definitely no less. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
December 3, 201114 yr If you see this, Tom, may I ask when is the next update due? I have a nasty framerate issue that makes the current demo unplayable for me.Edit: Never mind. Something must have gotten whacked in one of my preference files because deleting them and letting X-Plane recreate them seems to have helped. Apparently that was a temporary fix, because now I'm back to single digit framerates.
December 3, 201114 yr Commercial Member Apparently that was a temporary fix, because now I'm back to single digit framerates. When you delete your preference files, X Plane rebuilds them to their default settings. You need to fix your settings again.I remember recommending to someone else, immediately after you find your optimal settings, zip the preferences folder up and keep it in a safe location. You could even keep it in the root x plane folder and it will do nothing to your installation of x plane. That way, if the preferences get corrupted, simply restore the zipped ones and you're good to go.
December 3, 201114 yr I have a concern about this. I bought the Carenado f33 about 10 days ago when I read that Xplane 9 aircraft would be compatible with xp 10. However, right now there are bizarre prop animations and the beacon lights are about 2ft. Above the wing. Not terrible-but was is the typical timeline for updates? In the past I bought some Xplane 8 aircraft that stated the same-then were never really updated for 9 as promised and very often updates for 9 would cause other troubles. One of my concerns is the reality xp gps-I have seen no news about updates for it and it doesn't work at all in 10. I really can't live without this add in!Now I know the answers to these problems are with the 3rd party manufacturers themselves-however for the consumer this causes angst....I emailed Carenado and I ask if they have plans for Reality XP integration for XP-10. "Yes, we have plans.""Carenado" I also emailed Reality XP but didn't get an answer. It would help if everybody reading this would email Reality XP. December 4, 201114 yr Jason,I can't find anywhere on Carenado's site them saying their planes are XPX compatible. The Mooney for example. All I see with each aircraft is:Technical Requirements:Windows XP - Vista - 7 (32 or 64 bits) or MAC OS 10.3.9 (or higher) or LinuxXPlane 9.5 (or higher) <----- Not V10.xxPentium 2 GHz - 1GB RAM88MB available hard disk space.I personally don't think this is mis-leading!I own all of them for X-Plane and they work in XPX Demo.Ben's Bloghttp://www.x-plane.com/blog/ Second Post. If I disable HDR then I get good performance (between 15 and 30 FPS) even with the scenery settings at their maximum except global shadows which I have set to low. If I enable HDR, sometimes I get good performance, and other times I get terrible performance. It seems a bit random, actually. We'll see if the next update fixes it.

December 4, 201114 yr Just a note, if you enable HDR and HDR AA, you must disable regular AA completely by setting it to none.I just assumed it would ignore the setting. You're suggesting that it causes a conflict?Edit: Well, so far so good. We'll see what happens next time I boot X-Plane.i have the same performance issue ... the HDR makes it so much better, guess i need a new cpu and video Here's the thing: I can run with HDR, it's just I never know if I'm going to get 20FPS or 2FPS whenever I start the sim. I'm guessing it's a bug.
December 4, 201114 yr Commercial Member I just assumed it would ignore the setting. You're suggesting that it causes a conflict? Yes, it has been stated it causes some kind of conflict. It will most likely be addressed in an update somewhere along the line.
December 4, 201114 yr I have decided to run without the hdr. I like it but I can't live with the awful AA that you have to choose. I understand the method used to do AA with HDR so I know it is difficult for computers to do good aa when it has to be done at extreme resolutions but on a 42" screen the jaggies are probably more obvious than on a 24" monitor. I can't really buy a more powerful computer because I am already around the top of the spectrum. One day though..
December 4, 201114 yr Just a note, if you enable HDR and HDR AA, you must disable regular AA completely by setting it to none.Nope, that's not it. Demo worked fine last night with HDR enabled. This morning, single digit framerates again, so there's definitely a bug in the HDR code.

December 5, 201114 yr Why do you jump to bug ... same weather, location, and time of day for you HDR comparison?Bug makes the most sense, and when I reported the problem to Laminar, they confirmed that they were working on resolving it.
