So you don't have enough self control to not buy add-ons but you're going to hold off till 2015 to buy Flight??! Come on man, you aren't fooling anyone here!
He is saying that default MS Flight will not be good enough for him, therefore he will be forced to purchase addons in order to upgrade it to an acceptable level of quality. Since his "addon upgraded" version of FSX will almost certainly be graphically superior to MS Flight "out of the box", I am not convinced that any self control is necessary.

I ordered Flight a month ago... I had no trouble using FS2004 alongside FSX when it was released, and don't expect Flight to pose any problems either. In fact I see no reason to replace all my FSX addons in Flight at all. Rather I'll have FSX optimised for certain kinds of aircraft and scenery and will use Flight for something different. As soon as TrackIR is supported in Prepar3D I'll install it as well. FS2004 is still great as a Big Iron simulator, although I don't use it much anymore as graphics look dated, but on occasion I'll have a go in the Aeroworx King Air 200 to practice my turboprop skills (still no FSX turboprop-addon that can rival it).

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

I don't have any turboprop skills, so that option is redundant LOL.gif

Most MS releases are downgrades!!!!
LOL LOL.gifCorrect & brilliant indeed ! dry.png
Have you ever bothered to read the FAQ or ANY of the press releases?
ROFL No one does except us.....In the beginning of the article it's like "Dear Brandon and Ben" MS has been working hard on MS Flight.

panda234, good time to get into FSX as FSX can now be optimized with today's hardware. Back when it came out, the excuse for slow frame rates was it was made for "future" hardware. Addons I use with FSX: UTX, ActiveSkyX, RadarContact and UltimateTrafficX. Then sceneries: some Megascenery SoCal & Las Vegas. Lots of free scenery and terrain downloads.Plus if you like jetliners, pmdg has come out with outstanding simulator-planes in the past 4 years. notably the 737NG a few months ago , MD-11 and 747-400. Fs2Crew addons for all those planes too. (FS2Crew NGX almost out)From what I've seen of Flight so far...I'm just not into flying biplanes over Hawaiian mountains indefinitely..Reminds me of that instructor and student scene rolling away in "Tora! Tora! Tora!", lol.

I have itchy feet for something new. I don't like what I see with XP10, and P3D has not made any hyper jumps over it's FSX base yet, so FLIGHT is on my radar. We will see what we see when we see it, see?Kind regards,

Well now I'm really confussed! OK I used to fly as a youth 172's out of Burbank now Bob Hope airport in the 70's then moved to Oregon and no real flying for me due to health issues. So in 88' I got a flight sim, what a joke, gave up. Then last spring I bought FSX out of curiosity, I like it, my Jr. high is actually on the East runway lineup. But no waterfalls in Yosemite still so then I learn about MS Flight with dreams of seeing waterfalls and a Queen Mary that doesn't look like it's made from Lego blocks. Only now I'm learning about all these FSX upgrades and a whole entire FSX industry WOWShocked.gif . So what to do now, spend my money and make a kick a-- FSX only maybe to be outdated in a couple years or......get MS Flight and wait to see what happens for upgrades and by that matter what it may need. Decisions, decisions, decisionsunsure.png

Ranger Dan

I fly with my feet on the ground and my head in the clouds!

Dan, I hear your pain lol. I'm beginning to think that no matter what I need the computer. So FSX and the addons to make it fun will cost $200-$400 minimum. Over 2 years, until MS Flight is released and debugged and addons developed it works out to $100-$200 per year for untold hours of enjoyment. And I will still get MS Flight when it comes out. If the addons work it's a bonus, either way I'll get my money's worth.
add a few thousand $ to that, plus new hardware each time there is a jump...

I hear your pain too Dan, Panda, Ranger and everyone who finds themselves in the same dilemna. I have spent a friggin $2k on flightsim software and hardware in the past year alone. Just got ASE, and have AS2012, PMDG777, Majestic Dash8 Q400 and RC5 on my radar. So how do you throw away goodies that you have barely used in favour of a new untested addonless (lol made it up) Sim. I have no doubt, Flight will shine and perhaps overshadow the competition, but its about limited resources. And that was the purpose of this post, to gauge the general interest and opinions of users.

Your welcome pand234. I'm still tempted by what Flight has to offer. As soon as they show more than Hawaiian valleys and show some 737's and an airport like KLAX my interest will pique considerably. I felt the pain too as I had a bunch of addons for fs2004 which I never used again. I had tried my pmdg 737NG in FSX and it was horrible with massive slowdown and a lot of buttons and systems not working right. Then 737NGX finally came out (praise to PMDG for working on it for 3+ years) , it cost more than a new pair of sneakers, but the experience is still like driving a new car. RangerDan, have you tried a 172 addon yet such as one of the Carenado 172's?I am one of those that kind of hopes Flight turns out to be some kind of x360 buttonmasher game , or a "Vista" for real flight simmers so that it delays a real hardcore simmer FSXII for a few more years like Windows 7,so that my FSX addons last a bit longer, lol.

Haha My thoughts exactly...

You are safe therefore, Flight will be a gamepad bottonmasher, your investment will be safe for the next upcoming 8-10 years. :(
