AivlaSoft EFB. Thinking about buying...but....

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I come to you because I have yet to receive bad advise, or guidance yet.I am really thinking about purchasing AivlaSofts EFB, to better my flying experience with the NGX. One of the main things that I really love about it, is that you can see a real time diagram of the airport, where you are, and where other traffic is. That right there is a seller to me, as I frequently travel to unknown airports, and hate having to squint at my printers crappy printout.Anyways. I am planning, if purchasing, setting it up on my laptop computer I keep beside my FSX computer.I have one issue though before I buy. I have read a lot online about how good it is, but then one issue keeps coming up about online vatsim traffic. It does not show it all the time. There is some issue where you may or may not get any traffic. As traffic is the reason I fly on VatSim, this would be a deal breaker for me. I can not find for the life of me any info on if this has been fixed, or anything past Aug 2011.If anyone here uses it with the NGX, and can please let me know, it would be great. Thanks guys.

There's a one month demo with full functionality. Why don't you check it out yourself to be 100% sure?

Pre SP1, online traffic did not show while flying the NGX. Since SP1, traffic does appear consistently and traffic appeared with flying all other aircraftI can't imagine flying without EFB and like you, I agree, navigating airports is a breeze with EFB. It is my best add-on. I do use EFB on a networked machine.Buy it.

I have thought of that, but the setup for the networked computer is not just a simple click and play, and not to sound easy, I just thought it would be easier for someone to let me know if all is well before I go through all that setup for nothing, just to remove it again.Really trying to not sound lazy here, but ya...that was my reasoning...Bradrcfii,Hey, thank you for the quick response. I was really only worried about that one issue, and I find it best to always ask any questions here regarding addons and NGX.Well, looks like I will make the move today. Hope the networked computer setup is not too much involved, as I have never messed with anything like that. Do you use wireless network or a cord?

William Sequeira

Hi William,You can use either wired or wireless networking for the EFB. It is a great program and I have not had any problems with it on any addon aircraft. Ron Musick

You install the data provider on the FSX machine and the data display on the networked machine. It is the same install program that provides the choice. As for Navigraph updates, they go on the FSX machine. EFB is a well thought out program, great GUI and support is awesome.

I recommend you give the one month trial a go. The product is completly unlocked, and you can see its full functionality.I think it is a fantastic product, and I recommend it highly. It is still getting updates, makes flying in regions where charts are not available such a dauhting experience. You now have charts for every field in FSX*. Not the cheapest add-on on the block by no means, but I think what you get is worth in value.*for the most part. EFB's content is subject to the navdata from Navigraph. If they don't have a specific IAP, neither will EFB.

Hi,nobody had ever experienced crash in online flight in which EFB DataProvider gave the responsability to simconnect crash?Andrea Arnao

Well already hit a bump in the road on install. I get to the point where the data part installs, it goes through all my scenery, when it gets to the navigraph area, it crashes. I chose not to install the data cycle that it gives as it is outdated compared to what I have.Maybe install the old one they give me for their folder and then update it? Cause right now my data is in a different folder and it won't work for me pointing it to that one.

William Sequeira

What you should do is go through the install process and accept the cycle and after it's done installing update the cycle. You should not have any problems.

Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway

I agree with Chris. Install as is, then update navigraph.I have never had a crash.

LOL.Just did that. Not it worked as I hoped, it restarted, and now have to set up the display.I plan on doing this all on my FSX computer, and also on my laptop, just in case so I have the ability to do it both ways.

"From December 3rd, 2011 until December 31st, 2011 we offer you a discount of 25% on the normal retail price for each purchase of an EFB license key."Go ahead !! EFB/aivlasoft is THE best moving map ever made with really a great support !!I can't imagine flying without EFB

I did Simconnect reinstall and follow a complex modify of .ini .cfg and .dll found on Hifi forum to solve ActiveSky sharing problem due to Simconnect..... hope this will solve the issue......Andrea Arnao

THE ASE simconnect doc is very good. If you put the data display on both machines, you will have to change a setup option telling EFB where the dataprovider lives, local or remote.
