Lost fuel flow meter

Featured Replies

1. As Rimshot already mentioned Carenado refer to this location as "support" forums.2. Would you fly a real world twin with this issue? of course not...
1. ah, ok. That's why it says UNOFFICIAL in capital letters2. How do you know? Do you know if it's required for flight IRL? Have you ever seen the MEL from an airliner and what kind of and how many indications can be inop?

I wouldn't even drive my car with an inoperative fuel gauge. And the checklists for the C337 clearly call for monitoring fuel flow at various stages. But thats besides the point. The reality is we have mutliple users reporting the same issue....never mind the master switch oddity and non-functional tank switches.Again you are correct-it takes nothing away from the flight model or the ability to fly the airplane. But why not just take the time to identify the issue (s) and sort it out?No need to obfuscate things by throwing your real world pilot experience my way or nit-picking over "official/unofficial". And I certainly will not get into a discussion or arguement. Carenado can either fix things....or not. And I can feel free to recommend...or not...or just add the caveat that the product is not as well supported as one might wish to see.Experiences like this and your (BStolle) comment are what fully put me off further payware purchases from certain other developers. In Carenado's case I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt and am a rather patient type....it's not like the C337 is a legacy product. And I have seen Carenado react and fix issues with the XP PA-32 Saratoga very quickly which sort of leaves me scratching my head here.CheersTed

For cryin' out loud Bernt, if it is unofficial, why is that not mentioned in capital letters on the website as well?? It's not very hard to add the text yes, there is a support forum, but we won't support you there. Why can't you just admit it is plain silly to model and program a switch that doesn't even work as it should? Why can't you just admit this is a fault that should be fixed? I don't understand why you are being so defensive...

Exactly. I'll think twice before I get another Carenado plane.

Certain people can handle positive criticism, other not..! Most time I experience it when a guy cant handle even the slightest of criticism, is that either the guy is "truelly an out and out developer" (well 90% of these specialist dont like to be told they made a small error) or the guy has some ego due to some kind of job environment where he was in some kind of power position or thinking he has some power and that make him believe he is better then other. But luckily there are the exceptions to the rule and I have seen brilliant specialist/developers who crave criticism and they flourish on it, because it make them better. You either a good developer that can handle it or not. Being a developer is not for everyone.. It take a special kind of guy and if you not that kinda guy do your development work behind closed doors and stay away from forums and let proper marketing people handle the flack if you cant manage it. rather just do what you good at.

I get the feeling that some are seeing Bernt as a spokesperson for Carenado. As I see it, he freelances for them as an airfile editor. Correct me if I am wrong Bernt...You have an issue with Carenado, it is best to contact them directly... I would also mention to them that the forum here is seen as an unofficial support forum, they have NO official support forum...I would happily see their current released aircraft corrected...Andrew

What I don't get is why model a switch at all if it doesnt do anything. It is 100% missleading to post up screen shots of switches and claim accurate modeling when in fact the bare minimum is functional (wait...even less than the bare minimum)I havent bought a Carenado aircraft for a long long time...but stupidly I bought the 337 and the MalibuBstolle - Nobody cares if you are the greatest FD creator in the history of Flight sim, as a free lancer you have no need to stick up for a rubbish Developer Rip off merchant if they cannot get the basics rightNice flight dynamics are fine if you are flying nothing more complicated than a Piper Cub in a circuit.Something as simple as a fuel pump switch that is 100% wrong is completely unacceptable for a payware 3rd party addon aircraft. You have no idea how many emails I have sent Carenado for support over the years...I have not had 1 reply...ever!

Folks,Like stated above I e-mailed Carenado and explained the problem. Today I got a reply that they will fix this bug soon.

Cheers, Bert

I emailed them soon after release about the bugs, got a very short sharp, even rude reply about a future patch, but that was a while ago now. Not bought anything from them since , might not buy from them again.

switch flipping can be used for learning procedures. whether or not it has system depth depends on the price point of the product and intended audience. and if you think you're not able to make good purchase decisions (obviously you're voicing regrets here), then why not purchase from flight1? you'll get 30 days to decide if it's a keeper or not. the 337 delivers for its price and enjoy it a lot.

That makes the Katana 4x (at the same price) look like an absolute bargin if you want to compare functionality/bugs/support v's price. I got used to checking fuel cutoff switches when FSX was first released and I flew the default Cessna 172, where the fuel cut off switches do work! WIth the 337, I just use control E as doing it manually is all a bit gimmicky...For $35 I expect much more support from Carenado. I sent an email to them a while back, nicely worded, polite, stating I had just downloaded the aircraft and had found various bugs that need addressed, I mentioned that this was a post patch download. The email I got back contained ONLY the following words "download the patch". No Hello, no thankyou, no best regards. Sorry, I won't spend money on them again.

Flight 1 will be used in the future for sure. As for procedures. That will teach bad habits if a system isn't modeled if I ever win the lottery and want to buy an aircraft there is no way would I use a carenado for procedures training. I would spend 6 days on the ground trying to start the thing because I woundnt know that I needed to turn the fuel cocks on etc lol
  • 2 weeks later...

Folks,Today I received an e-mail from Carenado. There is now a small patch available on their website that fixes the fuel pump issue. Great support!
