January 5, 201214 yr I cannot save any routes on FMC. I type in a route name such as EHAMEGLL and when I try to save it says the name is invalid no matter what route name I try ( ie. EHAMEGLL001 etc). If I press the line select for save, the confirm light comes on and the execute light comes on, but when I press the Execute button nothing happens (light stays on) and no route appears to be saved. Where are Route files for NGX saved? I was previously able to save them? Looks like I screwed something up. I have installed update 1 and 1b. HELP! I have read the other post and replies on here relative to saving a route and tried the procedures and still have the problem. Edited January 5, 201214 yr by daveinpa
January 5, 201214 yr Sounds like it could be a security rights issue. What OS are you using? George Morris

January 5, 201214 yr NGX FMC's routes get saved to.........FSX/PMDG/FLIGHTPLANS/NGX(assuming that FSX is the directory to which FSX was installed into.)Fred Frederic Steiner.

January 5, 201214 yr Someone can correct me if I'm wrong (don't have NGX up and running right this second), but I don't think you get to type in the name....you just hit save, and PMDG generates the company route name. Jack Urie
January 5, 201214 yr For EHAM to EGLL I save it as AMS-LHR and then press execute and it has always taken that format. I have same permission issues on VISTA 64. Check the properties of that folder, daveinpa. It may somehow have ended up "read-only". If you have logged in as administrator you can change it. By the way it would help if we knew your real name. You can add it to your signature. That way we won't have to refer to you by your loggin. :(

January 10, 201214 yr One other good practice is that you should always run the installer as Administrator. George Morris
January 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member When you go into the flight plans folder - while flying the NGX and having saved a flight plan - check on the top bar (immediately below the folder location) for a button called Compatibility Folders. If you click on that and see your flight plan, you don't have Admin rights to the folders and it's saving it in a temp "ghost" folder. In addition to running the program as an admin, it's always a good idea to give yourself admin control of the whole FSX directory and subs. Kyle Rodgers
May 9, 201214 yr hi guys. any other ideas for this?..................... still dont save plans............. regards. ATO VATMEX director, VATNA P1-P2 instructor (spanish), VATSIM 897455, more than 9000 hrs flight.
May 30, 201511 yr I don't understand everything I know about this airplane but the save function seems to be a blind operation. In other words, it does the "save" thingy but never clears the "save" LSK. Plus the "Exec" LSK doesn't clear either. And it doesn't seem to save a flight plan that wasn't changed from the original. So if you load a flight plan (which it will do from the PMDG folder) and modify it, then you can save it. But the saved plan goes into the NGX folder. If you load the changed plan from the NGX folder, it won't let you save it again unless you change it again. That's the way it appears to me. Eric Parker
May 30, 201511 yr I'm guessing, Major, you didn't read the post from top to bottom. And I must correct myself. The FMC doesn't clear the "confirm" LSK. Eric Parker
