January 6, 201214 yr Seems 10 was just a quickie fix for a couple of rare bugs. I'll test it again for FPS as yesterday's beta didn't affect me as it did so many others.

January 6, 201214 yr For me clouds don't look good in beta 10. Cumulus clouds at any setting do not look like clouds any more. They are just hard edged smears across the sky. I tried moving cloud puffs from 20 to 60, HDR is on and all the realistic cloud softness is gone. The sky is a surreal mess. I am using an AMD 6970 video card with the latest 11.12 Catalyst version. I have been flying Washington State with real weather downloaded so lots of clouds. Up till now I have been able to set opacity and cloud size but those options are gone. I'll try playing with more settings but for now I just want to turn clouds off completely until this is remedied. What it looks like is taking an opaque gray paint and painting an S shape on white paper and there is some artifacting because the S shape has a few lighter echoes around it like it wants to soften the edges and grade it out but opacity is set too high. I'll get some screen shots and post them tomorrow.
January 6, 201214 yr Unfortunately the clouds went from being very good, to not so good. Guess they are trying to get the frame rates up. Set the clouds for stratus seems to me to be the best looking, if one can really say best. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
January 6, 201214 yr Strange-I flew in Sitka, Alaska tonight with rw weather and saw some of the nicest clouds I have seen. The new sliders are for sure a mystery... Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
January 6, 201214 yr The cumulas clouds seem to be really tanked, some of them look more like cirrus than cumulas. The stratus settings look better to me. I don't have a cloud base in Okla. tonight. Clear and about 35 mile visibility. winds were 15 knot, but no turbulence at all. I better look around and find some clouds around maybe Google earth will see some.Perhaps real world weather produces better clouds. Donald E. January 6, 201214 yr This thread has had lots of edits now because of a miss set parameter it was looking bad. I have it looking well, although AA never looks like it is doing a good job, certainly not 16x. Forget the second picture, it was low textures stuffing it. airlinejets, was it you that said you were getting 40-80fps? are your setting similar to mine? I am on around 25 fps circling over the houses near the airport. This is what I am looking at. The machine is a 2500k @4.5 with 8 gigs ram and an ati 6970. Edited January 6, 201214 yr by JasonHarris
January 6, 201214 yr You might try closing X-Plane then run it again. It was Beta 8, after upgrading, my fps went really low, i had been getting fps in the high 30's or better. suddenly after upgrading, they went way way low. I ws so dissapointed I gave up closed the sim. went did something else, started the sim back up and fps were way up there.Beta 10 does very well on my machine, its na older Core2Duo 0650 running at 3 Ghz. with a GTX 560 2GB vram, and I am getting overr 30 with the F33. with somethng like Jason Chandlers C172 I get in the 40's.I keep knocking on wood though. :-) Edited January 6, 201214 yr by wb5okj Donald E.
