Beta 10

You might try closing X-Plane then run it again. It was Beta 8, after upgrading, my fps went really low, i had been getting fps in the high 30's or better. suddenly after upgrading, they went way way low. I ws so dissapointed I gave up closed the sim. went did something else, started the sim back up and fps were way up there.Beta 10 does very well on my machine, its na older Core2Duo 0650 running at 3 Ghz. with a GTX 560 2GB vram, and I am getting overr 30 with the F33. with somethng like Jason Chandlers C172 I get in the 40's.I keep knocking on wood though. :-)
I have restarted a number of times, very tough because since the demo I have moved it form the ssd on to a HDD. You know time stands still when waiting..

Strange-I flew in Sitka, Alaska tonight with rw weather and saw some of the nicest clouds I have seen. The new sliders are for sure a mystery...
I tried denver for clouds, but it was mostly clear, I saw there were heavy coluds up Sitka way so I went here in global airport. I had forgot that I had only loaded scenery for the lower 48. Plane was floating upside down, and sinking. :LMAO:PS. I didn;t see any clouds either. Finally found a few at Laramie Wyo,

Just an oldtimer tip for those of you testing a lot of beta's.If you encounter strange problems in a new beta, remove the content from yourpreferences folder, then start the sim again. (the old preferences are still there).XP will generate new ones. Ideally you should do this every time, but I know it'sa pain resetting all the settings.M

It seems that the AA is just not as effective. I tried at the video card level with some intense AA, and in-game settings, and the AA effect has somehow been rendered less effective. I can only speculate. What is really strange to me is that even forcing the AA at the hardware level, the AA is not working as well. Not sure how this can be, as nothing has changed on my end.Bob

airlinejets, was it you that said you were getting 40-80fps? are your setting similar to mine? I am on around 25 fps circling over the houses near the airport.
Jason,I'll try to get a screenshot of my parameters in today, just to compare. I was even going over 100 frames some times. Beta 10 and I guess more likely beta 9 cut those numbers down. One thing last night that happened i was upset about, I flew into an overhead cloud and when I came out on top, looked back, the cloud had disappeared. No cloud below or behind me.

Jason,Here is a pic of my settings and the second pic shows the best FPS I was able to get with cloud coverage. FPS run from high 30s to high 40s on average.

airlinejets; try going down from "extreme textures compressed" to "very high compressed" or "high uncompressed" and see if you can live with it. Should enable you to put objects to max and maybe also use anti aliasing.

I seem to have taken a 10 to 15FPS hit across the board in the latest beta. Exact same settings as before.

I at first thought this to MM but after stopiing and then rerunning the sim, fpa seemed to come back to fairly close to what they were. I wasn't too happy with the clouds last night but I took out all my preferences started and they look better. I don't think they are as good as before beta 8 but they seem to have improved somewhat today.

Thanks Mike, I see you are running at setting lower than mine. I don't like it so much turned down and with a 42" screen it is very important to have the AA up high! Also, like you Bob, I cant seem to get AA working properly.

I'm thinking of blowing away my settings and restarting everything fresh. I'll take a screenshot of my settings so I can remember how I have everything configured. Resetting my controller will be a pain, though. Is there a way to selective delete only certain settings, or is it best to perform a full refresh?

Seems like it´s best to keep using beta 7 for the time being? That seems quite stable (only one total lock-up up until now).

Oh, I had a rather nice flight this evening thanks to all the tips! Really starting to like XP10. I still have the insane left-veering when I´m on the ground, though. No matter what I do. But once in the air I´m fine.

Make sure your rudder pedals are calibrated correctly in their native control center. I thought my CH pedals were OK but on the spur of the moment I calibrated them using the CH control center. I was surprised to find they weere out of calibration, in fact I had been considering replacng the pontinometers (sic) as my pedals are getting quite old. Was plesantly surprised that a good calibraion was all they needed.
