"Thinking about it, so many current FS addons hit the pirate sites within minutes of publication that devs get very few $$ for their work"That what I thinks too. Look at how the Apple AppStore virtually "killed" any piracy on iOS product (seriously, who waste time to unlock ios ?).And I think MS Store could leverage a much bigger audience, that would benefit to 3d party dev. I strongly advocate this, and the whole process has a price, so 70-30 (70 for the dev) is totally fair.Seriously, ask to some iOS developper if they are angry about App Store, clearly it has open a brand new market, and it workd great. The question is really did MS closed the discusssion or did the third party dev do ?

Actually, it hasn't been all roses with Apple. They retain the right to remove your app from the store at any point-- effectively locking you out. If you want to issue an update, it has to go thru their review process.

@dighostYeah sure, life is not pink, everything is a compromise. But telling that the Appstore is a failure would be subjective not objective.Think that this process allowed Apple to keep AppStore free from porn and crappyest apps. Sounds fair. By the way, nobody force nobody to buy an iOS and buy in the AppStore, the fact is that is a tremendous success. Apple is a private company, they do whatever they want with their products, if developpers make money on top of it, they have to understand that their product is just a piece of code dependant from a platform.Think about an iphone without any update since 2006, fated to abandon, and with apps made randomly here and there. This is the state of FSX.Now compare it to the actual iphone business (i understand it is not the same thing, but this is the pilosophy of constant update in order to drive money from appstore compared to one shot 8 0 $ sell and dump to darkness after the sale).

AppStore sure works, but remember, its all low prices what buyers pay, so they are mildly and not really dissapointed. An 60 dollar addon is something different.

Well, I have to say that I expect (or at least hope for) mobile app-prices for MS Flight DLC... A few bucks at the most for an addon. If they start selling addons for 30 or 60 dollars, they can forget about not too serious flyers chiming in. And also serious ones, I think.

Agree, now who will make the AI addons or else.... http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Batman-Arkham-City/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80457520fa0To all of you reading this...Is the beta the full game?Looking at Flight spec. do you need 6Gb of rams to run the game with Hawaii only,.....
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 960 @ 3.20GHz, AMD® Phenom™ II X6 1100T 3.3 GHz or better
  • GPU: ATI Radeon™ HD 5870, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 or better
  • HD: 10 GB Hard Drive space
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • RAM: 6GB

6GB of rams and Window 7 64-bit just to collect coins...seriously????How many developers does it take to make sceneries for Hawaii, so MS was telling all the scenery developers (I'm speculating on the name here, Aerosoft, Orbx, FlyTampa just to take these 3) from the start that Hawaii was the only place you could develop sceneries for......so how many of you does it take to make HNL.....@ all the developers reading this, one of you please tell me that none of you knew how MS market store worked, seriously, how can you erase piracy if you can sell your stuff in other store to be downloaded to the game...and nobody knew that from the start..."September 2011, newsflash from MS...Microsof told all the developers how their market store work and cut them off from the project..."

They're not coins, but cleverly animated aerocaches that can be experienced in DX11 preview mode!

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

http://www.examiner....-simulator-fansIt's one thing to get slammed in the community forums. Its another thing when the bloggers and ezines start running with it. Between the forums, blogs, Facebook, Twitter and now ezines, I am gonna wager that the Monday morning Flight Status meeting is going to be....let's just say....uncomfortable.
The same thing was said about COD,BF3 and the others. At the end people bought them and the developer fixed the problems and even took the customers suggestions into account.

Probably because these games sell in millions, not thousands...

Well if history repeats itself,MS will take note and make changes. MS is wanting to sell millions of the addon stuff for this game.

The point I was trying to make is, do you really think that a developer (who ever he is) will work under a NDA with MS to exchange idea, telling MS what is wrong with the FSX engine so they can fix the major bugs, showing their work to MS, understanding how MS market store work and more to make addons just for Hawaii only.....and all of that happened in September of 2011, what I'm saying is none of the dev. knew how MS does business...give me a break here.Again, is Flight beta the full game, looking at the spec. requirements.....should I take a guess?Edit: One of the first thing Tom did on 01/04/2010 when he released the info is to put a poll up asking us (hardcore) questions about addons....what for? When is the show again?....

Agreed, Apps will likely be much cheaper than today's FSX addons. The marketplace has the potential to be much larger than FSX's addon market, which will drive app prices way down.Low prices will cause people to 'try' more apps as well, as the financial risk to the consumer will be very low. If you hate it, you're out a few dollars, and you move on to the next app. I think the cost to get all the default features you have in FSX in Flight will be much higher than FSX's base price. But having apps for a few dollars each, people won't even notice, because people tend not to see the big picture. This is the brilliance of this MS strategy IMO.
But as it is, no I have no intention of downloading. Not as some
Easy to say this now. MS doesn't make on money on it as it is. Of course its not going to stay as it is when first released. And I predict you will download it one day, when a fair amount of interesting content becomes available.Content will drive of the success or failure of Flight. But Flight will need a killer app. Its that killer app that will get people to download it in droves.I suspect that is why MS wanted PMDG, to have one of the first killer apps for MS Flight. To those who say MS can't produce content to the level PMDG does ? Think again, all you need is money, money buys a 'lot' of talent and expertise.Regards.Ernie.

Hi,Thing is, MS is not going to spend that kind of money to develop an addon like that for Flight.

I suspect the actual 'catch' is something to do with whom-owns-what.The XBox development requirements state that anything made for a game is owned by Microsoft, no matter who made it.
