If you've got the beta...

Start up the Stearman and load up "Inclement weather", take off, follow the coast, and fly around the island at 400 feet......and then ask yourself if that does not beat the FSX demo over St. Maarten when it first came out.. :(

Sounds interesting, Ill try it later when I get home.Rob

Or anything else since, I hear.

Is it really that promising? Good to hear then. I do not have the beta. So I can only judge from a few shots, videos and what is written, debated and rather speculated now. yes, I will try flight once available. and yes, I like what I saw so far in pics and videos. as everyone else in these kind of fora I am just concerned about the missing simming effect. so I can only hope that MS will put out a strategy what they intend to add in the near/not so near future. obviously, since they give the base pack away for free, they must come with something else to create revenue. and as said somewhere else here it would be great and I am still somehow hoping that they might add a simulator package for those like us. reason is that I cannot believe that you buy e.g. a grand canyon package just to fly through circles there. I mean if you are keen to collect coins/circles or whatever you are supposed to fly through then hawaii may be enough. why add alaska (circles in a snow storm), the carribean (circles over st barth) or australia (circles over ayers rock)? that's boring, it's not like a racing game where you add cities with different tracks since ultimately all fun flying is in the air and not on the ground, so ground/scenery extension packs would not really appeal to a fun flyer (just to see ayers rock somewhere underneath your plane or fly around the eiffel tower in paris), at least from my perspective - though I never played any of those fun missions, well ok, literally once I tried an air race but quit it after few minutes, I am not too much in that. But yes, I did the aspen approach thing with the lear twice or even three times. anyway, what I want to say is that - stupid or not - I somehow HOPE that they will come up with a simulation package. on the other hand I have to admit that I would have expected that they let this cat out of the bag too once they announced the base pack now. just to feed and accomodate us here. may be naive. but I still hope it's not. of course that would still not cure the app store issues when devs do not want/intend to participate there.just my 2 centsphil

If I haven't got an email about the beta yet, should I assume I haven't been chosen?

OMG what a surprise that brand new game beats demo of 6 years old one :( Microsoft has really done so amazing job!Just look at Aerofly FS and ask if it beats Flight by far, and it does. And it has even whole Switzerland modeled in that amazing quality, Flight has only some boring Hawaii island and maybe some others in future...

I think you should wait with repeating yourself until MS Flight has been released and we know more about the dlc, because this is becoming rather useless. Then again... I am repeating myself too, so why shouldn't you. LOL :(

I dunno, does Flight allow you to start and stop your engine? Does Flight let you climb to 20,000' at 1000 fpm in your piston plane? Does Flight have working navaids? I thought most people around here were as interested in systems and flight modelling as they were in eye-candy.

not sure why you call it useless .. its what people do (human nature).. you can see this behavior in all aspects of life.

I called it useless because he is saying things which we can't be sure of yet. Saying that Aerofly FS is better then MS Flight is impossible until we have the final version of MS Flight in our hands. And until you've actually played Aerofly FS. But it's pretty clear already (not only after simply watching some videos on Youtube but also reading a review of Aerofly FS and posts on the Aerofly forum) that even compared to the BETA of MS Flights, Aerofly FS is NOT better at ALL. I don't know why people keep saying that...! The only advantage it has over MS Flight BETA is the size of the world you can fly above.

Looking thru the videos, I've seen Navaid capabilities, ATC, Traffic settings Airline/GA, IFR only, There appears to be more under the hood than the crappy ring hunt everyone else is seeing. Airport Job boards looks interesting also, like having a built in Airhauler.

I wish that is true, see my previous post above. just still wonder why ms doesn't say so then. unless it is really a big surprise for the ces and the ms dev team is lauging their as****es off while they read all the hype here and knowing what they hold back. Guess I need to browse youtube more than avsim.

I wondered about that too. I do have the impression some people just received access to the beta... Man, I wish I had the beta...!!! I am putting my hope more and more on MS Flight because all other hopes seem to fade. :(

That was my point :). I posted in response to someone stating that Aerofly beat Flight hands down. The questions I asked were about features that Aerofly doesn't have (or does in the case of climbing to 20,000' at 1000 fpm, which is not excactly realistic in a Cessna 172). Aerofly seems to be ahead in terms of scenery and available surface area to fly over, but lacking in many other areas (based on youtube and forum posts, I have personal experience of neither Flight nor Aerofly).

i did some flying around in the beta. It's very very smooth, no lags or stuttering at all, even with overcast and storms. And most important for me: not blurry textures at all. Everything maxed. If you look at the map and drag your plane to an uncovered part (not Hawaii) theres an "buy" option. The planes handle very nice, they tend not to climb or dive all the timeVirtual Cockpits are great, it zooms where you point the mouse to.Now the big questions for me is:- how much more scenery will there be?- will there big jets?- will there be ATC?Flight is very promising. If there will be USA and Europe covered with jets and improved ATC its okay for me
