Things are looking up already! The Police came earlier. They were delighted to hear I could furnish them with the 'MAC' number from my network card, and the fact the motherboard was Bluetooth enabled. He would only 'wink' when I asked why they need that information. Well, I may not be at my best these days, but I'm not dumb either. He stated that although the chances of getting my stuff back weren't that good, they had very good 'information' about a spate of local burglaries, including that of the Duke's place! The other good news is that a mate from the Corps dropped off an i7-950 system for me earlier. I can have it for a few weeks. Don't know what video card is in it yet, but he says it'll run FSX just fine. Gonna fire it up now to see what gives......Thank you all so much for all the kind offers and words - it REALLY is appreciated. Previously, only in the military have I witnessed it quite like this. The rest world just seems so... dog-eat-dog?

Phil, take a wander over to Aria where they have some decently-priced graphics cards. Alternatively, if you live near a CEX store, try them. I picked up my interim EVGA GTX 460 SE 1Gb for a £100. Just a suggestion or two.

Sorry about that, Phil. Even though I worked for one of the largest UK IT retailers, as a systems builder, I bought all my hardware there. I reckon you are on the right track as regards your CC covering the insurance.

Guys, I’m so f****** sick!Got back home this afternoon to find we’ve been burgled – AGAIN!That’s 3 times in the last eight years!ALL my computer stuff is gone except this laptop and my old saitek flight controls. Just 5 weeks ago I built that new SandyBridge PC. It cost me nearly £1100. No insurance!!!!I’d only just got FSX running sweet at 4.9ghz
No, it's 'travellers'Seems it's not only my place that's been done now either!
I too, am sorry for your frustration. I would hate this happen to anyone. Not only the equipment but the time and energy invested to getting FSX to running sweet.Try to consider the following:1. If moving is not an option, strongly consider getting insurance since this has happened 3 times before.2. Some criminals are NOT dumb - just evil. You believe that just because someone else reported a thief, it had to be travelers. This may NOT be the case - just to throw you off and get suspicion on someone out of the area. It may have been someone that has admired your new system.Take care.

Mmmmm.... VISA won't actually tell me whether the purchase and theft is covered or not (covering and backs springs to mind). They ARE sending a claim form though, so they haven't said no and, with the Police showing what appears to be extreme interest in this, it could well be a 'goer'.I didn't mention it earlier as it made me so mad I was sick (literally), but the main reason for the Police being reasonably certain who the culprits are, is the nature of their 'calling card'... It was no longer warm or steaming, but sat in the middle of the carpet, and the smell made me heave! I'll leave the reast to your imagination :( Apparently, this 'calling card' was left at the other addresses also.I now have Windows and FSX installed AND working on the loan PC ;-)

So, if they ever try it on again when you're there, grab something heavy that you might have lying around, and tw*t them with it..
My "something heavy" is a 9mm Glock 26. I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), the British government has taken away your right to own a handgun to protect your home and family. Can you still own a rifle or shotgun for protection? Here in Pennsylvania, we recently upgraded our Castle Doctrine law. One of the provisions is that if someone breaks into your home ,it is assumed they are there to do you harm and deadly force is justified. Edited by jjn47
