Hey guys, I am deaply touched by your generous offers of money - really. I'm completely bowled over in fact. There really is SUCH a feeling of family and belonging here, and I'm truly grateful for that.Tom, you and the guys really have to take credit for that. Please don't take offence at my declining though. Me and money have this odd relationship... we get along just fine when it's about, but I've also learnt to be grateful for other things when it's lacking. Know what I mean? Some friends and ex buddies are gonna sort me out something I can load FSX on to.What's more, one or two addon developers have also responded with extreme kindness. I'm really blown away by the reaction to this.Ain't it strange... the huge extremes of kindness, and err.... unkindness in this world?

Hi,Providing help to someone is where it's at. Now, you said some of your mates were going to help you with getting fsx loaded. Getting FSX loaded does not mean it will run well. I know that I could never go backwards in terms of performance and sliders. Having something is better than nothing, is a true statement, unless we are talking FSX (which we are). You must be able to equal what you had before, or at least close, or you most likely will not fly much anymore. So the offer from all your mates, friends, flying buddies near and across the pond would certainly agree with what I have said.I can certainly respect your reservations though. But...... you must try to understand this from our perspective. I know you have food on the table and gas for the car, but as a simmer, you know and I know, that alone is not enough :( We lost everything in 2008. Our house, our 401k's and savings. If it was not for the help of so many, we would not be where wer are today. It is called paying it forward. One day you will be able to do the same thing!!!!RegardsBob

Phil,As much as we would like to accept and take credit for that, you have in front you evidence that validates, once again, the existense of a community and one that wants to take care of its own. That comes as no surprise to us; after all, this community made us believers when AVSIM was hacked. We just provide the hearth to warm your tootsies at.

Already done! I take photos of every system I build.
HI Phil.Don't know which part of Blighty you're in, but if you want I can ship out on loan to get you back that CPU+MoBo which takes 4Gb but currently only have 1Gb in it. Offer's there, pal.

I'm very sorry to hear this happened to you! PM me your PayPal, I'd be very happy to help where I can. I have a background in law enforcement and my family has been hit numerous times with car burglaries and I can tell you nothing feels more violating than someone entering your sacred grounds.

Today just gets better & better... First off, our neighbours didn’t even know they’d been burgled until our visiting policeman asked them to check. They’ve lost electrical goods AND jewellery! Thankfully, we can’t afford too much of the shiny, twinkly stuff in our house. Now, in all the damn shenanigans, one of our dogs has BITTEN the forensic officer's assistant. She was dusting for fingerprints! I kid you not, she was carted off to A&E about 30 minutes ago. They should have brought camera's to televise this damn house. I swear it’d make better viewing than much I’ve seen. SOMEONE ‘up there’ is really messin with me lately. Anyone who hasn't heard of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' should look it up. More than a little similarity. I'm thoroughly ###### now though, I can tell you. Before being medically discharged from HM Forces, I did some really bad sh** to some really bad people but, you know what..? I never felt the bitter hatred for them, that I do for these thieving ****..... oh, sorry. Think I need to lay down in a quiet room :(
On top of all this, to have a scenario from Monty Python's re-enacted with your dog taking a fancy to the forensics officer adds a touch of hunour to a rather glum scene. PIty one of those 4 dogs you have was not at home instead of being with you.

Damn. Makes my stomach hurt when I read all that.Luckily, I only came once very close the being robbed, they didn't manage to break in, but it was a close call.I had lots of electronic stuff in my apartment. Now in the house, the first thing I wanted the same day we moved in was an insurance active, list of my equipment and an alarm system as soon as possible.I think it's a bit of smartass now, doesn't do you any good, but at least know that I really feel very vey sad that such things happen and that there are such people in this world. They deserve very little IMO, and that little ain't beautiful...

Oh eck guys - two broken metacarpels, 8 suchers and severe bruising!Would you believe it though, there's not (apparently) going to be any charges brought. She's a Detective Sergeant and is being REALLY good about it.It does have to be "logged" obviously, as she was on duty.I think we may have got away light with that one. ho, hum.....

I'm sure the Police told you this, but if you had used that computer for any credit card purchases, or have other persnal information on it, get your credit card numbers changed. I don't know if the UK has the Credit freeze laws we have here in the states, if they do, it would be a good idea to contact the credit reporting agencies and freeze your credit. This will prevent a thief from opening accounts with your data. The worse damage that can be done with this kind of theft is not the physical computer (As much as that hurts) It's the possible Idenity Theft. I wish you good luck on your recovery.

Thanks

Tom

What's very nearly funny, is that we currently have FOUR dogs, one of which being a 45Kg (100lb) Inuit. We had them all with us!
I was going to suggest a bada$$ watchdog to keep your stuff safe as well, but after reading this comment I realize the same thing could just as easily have happed to me in spite of the 95 lb shepherd with a 'tude that hangs around here. Same applies to me - any time I go somewhere the watchdog goes with me!

Oh dear, that also sounds like my mutt. :( Sorry to hear about your misfortune, that really sucks. Hope you get your stuff back and somebody gets strung up over it.Jim

Dude, that sucks big time, really feel for ya, know what its like to lose the odd thing, not that frequently though. Re fitting cameras, I worked for BritishRail for awhile and we had cameras on the gate to the control room I was at, the people living just next door repeatadly stole the cameras, just outright walked up to em and cut them down. One day we came to work and they had tarred over our swipe card sensor the gate. It was so regular, you almost had to laugh at the audacity. I know you're not laughing but thought you might see the funny side of our situationKeep ya chin up :)
