Today just gets better & better...First off, our neighbours didn’t even know they’d been burgled until our visiting policeman asked them to check. They’ve lost electrical goods AND jewellery! Thankfully, we can’t afford too much of the shiny, twinkly stuff in our house. Now, in all the damn shenanigans, one of our dogs has BITTEN the forensic officer's assistant. She was dusting for fingerprints! I kid you not, she was carted off to A&E about 30 minutes ago. They should have brought camera's to televise this damn house. I swear it’d make better viewing than much I’ve seen. SOMEONE ‘up there’ is really messin with me lately.Anyone who hasn't heard of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' should look it up. More than a little similarity.I'm thoroughly ###### now though, I can tell you. Before being medically discharged from HM Forces, I did some really bad sh** to some really bad people but, you know what..? I never felt the bitter hatred for them, that I do for these thieving ****.....oh, sorry. Think I need to lay down in a quiet room :(

Phil sorry to hear about your ordeal with these pikies. I don't know your whole deal, but I too was MD'd from HM Forces and thankfully I know live in a very quiet countryside area in a country where I can legally own a gun and shoot anyone who threatens my life. Thieves like that p##s me off beyond belief and I know all too well how hard it is to get the latest traveller's camp off your back porch if they so happen to set up there. I'm afraid the Plod isn't going to do anything to stop the pikies coming round again, so I'd suggest stocking up on security features if you can at all afford it. One very good security feature I found, was when I investigated a burglary over here (I used to work for a rural sheriff after being MD'd) was this guy who installed a small camera at each door, hidden from view and any movement set an alarm off on his phone and showed him the video footage. So if it was a burglar, he could call it in to the Plod. It's a lot cheaper than you think to do this, here is one on amazon.co.uk for 40 quid that emails you a picture of anything that sets the motion detector off. Set it in a window facing your front door and hide it around trinkets, then next time you have proof of who did it and the Plod actually can take someone off the street (it it was the gypos then they likely have pictures of them on file to compare).

PhilThat's shite news. For future reference, don't forget that the government has clarified the law recently. Check this out from the CPS's website:"Anyone can use reasonable force to protect themselves or others, or to carry out an arrest or to prevent crime. You are not expected to make fine judgements over the level of force you use in the heat of the moment. So long as you only do what you honestly and instinctively believe is necessary in the heat of the moment, that would be the strongest evidence of you acting lawfully and in selfdefence. This is still the case if you use something to hand as a weapon. As a general rule, the more extreme the circumstances and the fear felt, the more force you can lawfully use in self-defence.""If you have acted in reasonable self-defence, as described above, and the intruder dies you will still have acted lawfully. Indeed, there are several such cases where the householder has not been prosecuted. However, if, for example:

  • having knocked someone unconscious, you then decided to further hurt or kill them to punish them; or
  • you knew of an intended intruder and set a trap to hurt or to kill them rather than involve the police,

you would be acting with very excessive and gratuitous force and could be prosecuted."So, if they ever try it on again when you're there, grab something heavy that you might have lying around, and tw*t them with it..And try and get some contents insurance!Wishing you well..Ian

Sorry to hear that Phil especially with all that you have had to deal with in the past few years. You mentioned no insurance, but doesnt your homeowners policy cover the contents of your house?

Phil,Sorry to hear of your situation. If you lived in my general vicinity, I would have a ton of hardware to loan you to get you back in play... But the Atlantic brings that to a screeching halt. Hopefully, the local constabulary can bring some satisfaction to you by catching the cretins.
I can echo those thoughts as well. I have several computers that're currently being unused, but the big pond makes it a moot point of interest.Dougal, if you have a PayPal account, let me know so I can toss ya some dosh towards a new rig!

Count me in too.Sorry to hear that Phil. Last year I had my car broken into and they tried to pry the stereo system out of the dash with a crowbar. What a mess. What was worse is that I had a $500.00 deductable policy, although not having insurance at all would really have been bad. I now bought a truck with flashing security lights and $50 deductable. I can only imagine how bad it feels to have been ripped off like that. Are you also in trouble for the dog bite on the investigator?Kind regards,PS: If anyone broke in here my dog would run to them with her ball to play catch. If I left her here as a guard dog, the thieves would just fall in love with her and steal her too. Maybe I need one of those vicious barking dog alarms instead! PM me Phil if you have a Paypal account, if not, make one and then PM me.

Guys, I’m so f****** sick!Got back home this afternoon to find we’ve been burgled – AGAIN!That’s 3 times in the last eight years!ALL my computer stuff is gone except this laptop and my old saitek flight controls. Just 5 weeks ago I built that new SandyBridge PC. It cost me nearly £1100. No insurance!!!!There are SOME mercies. At least most of my payware collection is backed up and tucked away in the cupboard (check it just now).I’d only just got FSX running sweet at 4.9ghzToo damn sick, tired and agree to write any moreAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!Sorry – needed to VENT!
Sorry to hear that man, it's always frustrating when people steel indirectly from your hard earned money.Had it with a my own Car they forced my door and try to steel some stuff, but I always don't leave stuff behind... last year but always cost you money even if it's insured...Hope you can get back online soon...Count me in for the paypal too Phil if needed...
