Competition is a marvelous thing isn't it?Oliver has had to do some upgrading with FSDreamTeam about to launch GSX and ORBX also chiming in.

Competition is a marvelous thing isn't it? Oliver has had to do...
While I certainly agree competition in business is a good thing from the customer's point of view, I also think it wouldn't be fair to thank Oliver for his work by writing he 'has to do' something just because of it.Oliver is a great guy, has continuously supported AES (only FSUIPC can bet it in the number of interim updates) and selflessly helped many folks in the forums.I believe we don't need to compare his work to others, especially that at the moment they are vapourware.

Rafal my comments were in no way a personal attack on Oliver, or AES. Frankly just stating the obvious. My credentials ... bought AES at release and have most AES airports, with exception of South America (I choose not to fly there.) I, like many people, prefer to fly to/from AES'd airports. Its fun and, well, I HAVE invested quite a bit of money on them. However it must be remembered Oliver has recently received congratulations from the community on the fifth birthday of AES. Whilst it is true he has issued many updates to encompass new payware/freeware airport releases the core program has not really altered significantly in that time notwithstanding the considerable suggestions for improvement put forward by the customer base.It is only this year Oliver has indicated interest in improving the models and capabilities of AES. About the time ORBX debuted PeopleFlow and we all got wind of GSX (in Beta, release imminent.) Now I may be a little cynical here, drawing long bows etc. etc. but Oliver HAD a monopoly in FS9/FSX which shortly will be a monopoly in FS9 only. Now to really open the can of worms ... AES as it stood a month ago is quite primitive compared to what is/was then available optionally for some Overland Japanese airports. Olivers great innovation if you will was coming up with a 'generic' solution which might be applicable to many airports, both payware/freeware, That and the backing by Aerosoft leading customers to the conclusion that this was no 'flash-in-the-pan' software which would not be properly supported. The success of AES I believe caught everybody by surprise leading to the introduction of bonus credits for those who chose to invest heavily.I am not doubting for one minute that Oliver is a brilliant, supportive good guy. But it would have been nice to have the latest (and intended) improvements a liitle earlier in the program's life cycle.PS The word 'vapourware' has a rather poor connotation and I feel FSDreamTeam have got the runs-on-the-board to not warrant such a description..

And nobody called it this way! If, however, this indeed is what you understood from my text, then I am offering my apology for not being clear. That's what happens sometimes when English is your second language...
just stating the obvious
Well, you may find it obvious, that's perfectly fine with me.What I didn't like was that now when so many of us are happy with what AES 2.21 brings, I found it hard to get what purpose your particular words had. And that's it.
The word 'vapourware' has a rather poor connotation
What I have learned in our flightsim addon world (and certainly outside of it too) is 'I will believe (and love) it when I see (and get) it'.Anytime before, it is pure speculation. I love FSDT stuff, having seven of their FS9 sceneries, but I find it hard to compare and evaluate products without even having one released. It is not only in this case, but generally, so please don't take it personally by any means. This is nothing about you in particular.

I have been using the beta version of this upgrade for a while and thought it was excellent. But the latest release is spectacular - a huge leap forward for what was already a "must-have" utility. If there's anyone out there that hasn't yet tried AES, get it! You can download the program for free and there are numerous airports that are supported without charge so you can test it thoroughly without spending a penny. It is really outstanding!!!
