February 3, 201214 yr If I am online, which is 99.9% of the time....I don't use VNAV anyways....and just hope the ATC knows what they are doing. If I am online with no ATC....I always start my TOD 10miles back...just to make sure....also ya...I always check my speed into my descent, and make sure it is not to zippy and my CI is always never above 30. Doing just the above...I always (99%) of the time can make my restrictions even into KLAX, which in my opinion, have some of the toughest...as in like....5 or 6 in a star alone.... William Sequeira
February 3, 201214 yr Author Sorry, but I want to see proof of employment if you're going to make claims like this. A team of a dozen confirmed real world NG pilots were involved in the testing of this product and descent performance was something that was discussed to death. Not only does it match the Boeing performance data but we were told it felt right by the team too.Ryan, I'll be happy to do it, but I'm not going to do it in the forum. Can we have a chat in private? I'll more than happy to give my feedback. Franco Battiato
February 3, 201214 yr Author @FrancoI too run with a CI of 40 and I check on the LEGS page for what speed/altitude I'll be before I reach LOC marker. If it is too high I manually input the speed/alt and sure enough I hit all the speed restrictions.Just out of curiosity as I'm sure you must do it, but do you prep your landing by setting your landing Vref ?Yes we do. you can go in to PERF page and check how much fuel u've got and what fuel you'll have @ destination. ( 8 0 NM before ToD )E.G.: 7.8 @ the moment and 7.4 @destination. So you gonna burn 400 kg ( if you use KG of course ) . then you can go in to INIT REF. On top left corner you see you actual weight E.G 60.4.Now you know that you gonna burn 400 kg so you can change it in 60.0 and then you can select Vref. To change it u can simply type 60.0 in the CDU and replace 60.4. and that gives you the new speed.Hope this help. Edited February 3, 201214 yr by gooo Franco Battiato
February 3, 201214 yr Hi all,it's just my impression or it's difficult to slow down during descend? In my opinion takes a lot of time to slow down. I tried 2day EIDW to EGBB ( rwy 15 ) and I found my self high and fast following the V-NAV profile. Any suggestions?ThanksSome people have issues with high idle N1. That, of course, could be part of the problem. Matt Cee
February 3, 201214 yr Is the high idle N1 now officially "an issue"? I have had this twice, now..I will take Andrea's advice and screenshot and record everything. I am pretty sure I was doing it all right/as per SP but as with everything; it's a busy office that NGX...Probably me missing something Edited February 3, 201214 yr by quadraspleen JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
February 3, 201214 yr I think I saw a quote from Mike Ray in one of his Boeing books regarding the use of VNAV: "you will be high and fast". I believe he recommends FL CH and getting down early. Jack Urie
February 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member I'm kinda thinking that if I actually flew the plane, I'd refer to it correctly in posting...That's just me. Kyle Rodgers

I believe he recommends FL CH and getting down early. If the problem is the idle, going to be high, you will find hard to descent in LVL CHG, I remember that I was able to descend without speed brakes at a rate of less than 1000ft/min... meaning that you must begin your desent, in a regional flight, before Top Of Climb (yes climb) in order to reach the airport. But, who never had the problem will never completely understand how difficult it was to fly it.Also with the spoilers the vertical speed didn't reach acceptable values for a good descent. February 3, 201214 yr Thank you for the tips, but my point was to compare the real one to the sim. I fly 737-8 NG and is much faster to slow down than the sim.....Ah, well, it would be a good idea to make that a bit more clear in your OP the next time...
February 3, 201214 yr Author Ah, well, it would be a good idea to make that a bit more clear in your OP the next time...Apologize for that. Franco Battiato
February 3, 201214 yr Author Ok, I think I found it.... I use my laptop since I'm away from my home most of the time. Two days ago I went home for my days off and flew the NGX from my home computer wich wasn't update with sp1b.Flew the same route and the V-nav was all right and Idle was about 34%.....apologize for my carelessness Franco Battiato
February 3, 201214 yr I don´t wonna bother you but a simple forum search would have given you the same topic as yours. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/357764-difficult-to-slow-down Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
February 3, 201214 yr Author I'm sorry again...didn't pay much attention, please close it.Sorry again Franco Battiato
February 3, 201214 yr Just relax, Franco. None of us are perfect. You apologised, and that should be the end of it. Life is far too precious, so enjoy it and your flights, real or unreal. Rick Almeida
