Lately when we, as a flightsim community, talk about the successor to FSX .. we talk about Flight and XPX. Why doesn't FlightGear enter the discussion more frequently. I believe that flightsim has great potential ... do you?

there is a 100+ posted thread of people hoping that MS will turn on features within Flight and that Flight will have a future. I am certain you have seen it.

true .. but if we are talking about how to move our hobby forward .. perhaps an open source format could be the way forward. Vision would be high fps with tons of addon aircraft, scenery, and utilities.

Of course anything could be possible but we have to be realistic. "FlightGear is a flight-simulator created by volunteers" as it says on its website. It hasn't taken off as a mainstream simulator and and I can see no reason why it should in the future.

Absolutley we need to get behind Flightgear, it has massive potential.

Are you developing aircraft, scenery, or enhancements for FlightGear?

I'm hoping about Flight as well but that doesn't mean it will happen. Last I checked and seen it's nowhere near what FSX and FS9 is. I'm sure you've seen the flying coins and gaming style flying reminiscent of Ace Combat where you fly outside behind the plane. I'd love to see something like that in the real world. Can you imagine a plane flying overhead with a rope behind it pulling a guy in an office chair with a joystick.... :(

Dillon, so far all of the screenshots and videos have focused on Flight in the "Gaming Mode" for the most part, aside from a few brief glimpses of Flight from the virtual cockpit. Like FSX (and FS9 for that matter), no one is forced to run Flight in "Gaming Mode..." :(

That is where the problem lies, beta testers can't post what they see.

Exactly. And if a beta tester even says something like "Flight is more than just what has publicly been released so far," they are criticized and accused of breaking the NDA.
