February 7, 201214 yr I've been out of the game and I'm looking for the good, bad and ugly about the aforementioned add-ons. I am looking to "upgrade" to a more current version of these aircraft. The LDS is simply amazing in regards to system depth, but the visuals are...whew..look like they haven't been refreshed sinced initial release. Visuals are generally not a deciding factor; I go for realism. But, I would like something at least somewhat modern looking since I've upgraded to FSX. I'm going in to this knowing full well CS's sim depth won't match LDS. I would be happy with majority of the systems at least modeled correctly and a decent FMS. On CS's website they have the Avsim Golden Star Award, which signals me it's a decent product. Input is greatly appreciated folks! February 7, 201214 yr It would seem you know what you're getting into, so most everyone is just going to echo what you said. The Level-D is still the best 767. Apparently Quality Wing's 757 is pretty popular, but a little on the "systems lite" side. The only captain sim products I've ever been truly happy with are the C-130 and 707 add-ons. The CS 757 looks right, but that's about it.Their are many other better options for add-ons in FSX, but if you are specifically looking for a 75/76, pickings are slim. February 7, 201214 yr Bought the cs 767 and 757 first. Prettier than the lds 767. But 98% of my 757/767 flying time has been in the lds 767. There you go. Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit. Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777. February 7, 201214 yr My experience with CaptainSim has always been awful. I had major issues with the autopilot wing rocking on the 757 and the customer support was very unfriendly and they were not helpful in the least. Stay away from them at all costs.
February 7, 201214 yr Author Okay! That's what I wanted to know. Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated. Peace :( ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
February 7, 201214 yr I wouldnt put cs down all together I own both the 767 and 757 and for the most part there not that badAlot of the problems with the autopilot and other systems have been corrected by the lastest service packs, not up there in the same league as pmdg or lds but still I got my moneys worth out of them. February 7, 201214 yr Probably no harm trying the JF 757. It's free, until you buy more liveries. That said, I had their C-152 and it wasn't good, so I have no idea what it would be like.I too have a love/hate relationship with my three C/S planes (707, 727 & C-130). I reeeeally hope their 737-200 is more than just a beautiful external model when it's finished.Mike D Mike Dryden
February 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member CS 757 and 767 owner here. I've never flown the CS767, as it won't even install on my system and CS won't support me as they say it is an issue on my side, which it isn't. I have PMDG and many other complex addons working just fine and am a technically savvy user. The 757 came with huge autopilot problems for me, including rocking until it fell out the sky from cruising altitude. The FMC causes some problems when you're used to PMDG and Level-D fidelity, as it is not as well designed as the others. I had a crash to desktop on the 757 when I pushed a button that was out of sequence...again, no support for me so I simply don't use their aircraft any more and am pretty anti-CS now, as I've purchased most of their aircraft and been slapped in the face for them as gratitude one too many times. February 7, 201214 yr I have the CS757/767's and I think they are pretty good with the latest update! I have a full flight video of the 757 on my youtube page, if you like to see it in action. One thing if you do by it, get it direct from Captain Sim for support. Boxed versions from 4th party publishers are not supported by CS, especially from Just Flight. Before you blame CS, it's because of JF's ordering system, which doesn't share the order numbers with CS, So CS has no way to verify purchase! February 7, 201214 yr no support for me so I simply don't use their aircraft any more and am pretty anti-CS now, as I've purchased most of their aircraft and been slapped in the face for them as gratitude one too many times. That's the real kicker with CS. I've had nothing but bad experiences with their support. They're more interested in releasing crappy modular like add-ons. Their more recent ridiculous practice is to release model-only products. They've yet to deliver an interior to two of their model-only products, and it's irritating to watch them exhibit the same ridiculous practices as the infamous "Block system" they initially used for the 757 add-on. Block A- Model. Block-sounds. Block C- FMS. Block-D etcAny who, the 757 is appealing to those who don't mind blatant inaccuracies and rocket ship performance. The models look nice, though! February 7, 201214 yr Author I think I am sufficiently turned-off at this point from any CS purchases. Scanning further I have found there exist a lot of AP bugs and quite poor support. It's too damned bad, as the flight deck looks great. Too many cons at this point for my tolerance. Guess I will wait it out for LDS to hopefully release thier 75. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
February 7, 201214 yr Flight deck is a mess. Stay away unless you like frustration.I have a fair collection of CS stuff and outside of the 707 and 737 they are consistently poor products. I have several beautiful 737 external model liveries with unrealistic flight dynamics and a default -800 VC. The reason I even started with CS (the 727) is a total let-down. I pray someone out here will make one that can hold a candle to the beast it is... until then...LDS, McPhat, PMDG. Made in heaven! Daniel Fernandez
February 7, 201214 yr Author Stay away unless you like frustration.LOL not particularly. Panel graphics looked good, but I will definitely back away from this one. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
February 7, 201214 yr I have them, but I don't like them. CS planes just don't offer an actual cold and dark startup state, or any state besides engines on and ready to go, for that matter. There is a "cold and dark" situation file, but one can't honestly call it a true cold and dark situation file. No, I have much more fun flying the LDS767 and QW757. This is the reason I will not buy their 737 Classic, nor will I buy their 777. For the former I'll wait for BSS to release theirs, and for the latter I'm going with PMDG. I don't know what it is with CS products, but I always felt their are kind of "hollow", as if it doesn't really matter what I do, the plane will fly anyway. That's of course not true, but that's how they always felt to me.Honestly, I did think about merging the LDS767 panel and VC with the CS767 once. Right now I mostly want to uninstall the CS planes I have installed. They take up precious room on my hard disk and I don't fly them anyway, so why bother? February 7, 201214 yr Level-D 767. A bit dated visually but the most rock-solid, reliable and non-buggy airliner simulation you can buy. Love flying it even after all these years ^_^I also gave up on Captain Sim. As others have stated zero support, buggy releases, rude developers. Edited February 7, 201214 yr by SQUAWKIDENT
