Webisode 7: Flight is not about the act of operating an airplane

So far also all stuff about Flight having deep system simulation aircrafts by default is just as much based on marketing speech. But yeah we will see in near future what Flight will become. Anyway I do not believe that DLC´s will add any very big new things to the game, they will add new airplanes and sceneries of course, but most likely nothing like ATC or advanced flight planning.

Taking a single sentence out of context is a poor foundation for an argument designed to convince people that Flight is not a worthy simulator
You would be right, except in this case that one sentence happens to sum it all up. Perhaps you need to unlock the P-51 without a cockpit to really understand what that one sentence means.
"The instruments are the heart of the simulator aspect of Microsoft Flight" and run with that soundbite in the opposite direction?
Because the P-51D doesn't have a cockpit, nevermind instruments?Because MS will not realease an SDK so I can use my GoFLight gear?Because I'm supposed to fly an ILS from outside the aircraft with a mouse and no ATC?Because I already ran with the Dec 8, 2010 soundbite about Flight respecting legacy simming and got burned?
I'll even continue down your yellow brick road and play along. "MS Flight is not about operating an airplane." What do you think those people in those videos are doing if they are not operating an airplane?
Yeah, flying an aircraft designed like a car with a mouse! :(
Context is a very important concept to the entire discussion of Flight.
Exactly. And all the context so far supports that Flight is not about controlling an aircraft, it's about pointing an aircraft in the direction of the scenery you want to enjoy or the next gold coin you want to collect. Flying with a mouse is not controlling an aircraft, and no marketing statement from MS suits or whatever about context from you is going to make me believe it is.
Opponents to Flight provide a continual barrage of individual elements that lack substance to draw a negative conclusion to what Flight is or is not.
Don't blame us "opponents", blame MS for making a toy, which is what the've done so far.Anyway, I did try and start a thread regarding an important aspect of Flight. You might want to re-read the OP and see if you can/want to contribute, else if you're happy with what Flight has to offer for you, why not just move on.Cheers,- jahman.

I'm sure you had 50 post under your belt by November 21-2002...... :(

To have something to say, I guess you need 220 posts, but to be reaaaally important you need 1000 posts, but even they must bow down to the people with 5000 posts. Give. Me. A. Break. :(

Cheers,

Not all who at least are willing to give Flight a chance are low post count folks! Check my post count for example!AVSIM ran out of "Gold Stars" so now I'm accumulating "Contributor Gold Stars..." :(

I had written a long and thoughtful post, but deleted it because it's wasted on made up minds. But I thought I'd take the opportunity to get another post in, since the post count seems to mean more than the more than 25 years I've been on flight sims...CheersMike

I may not have 20,000 posts, but mine is pretty good.

I shall try it too Bill. It's free and if I find I don't like it I'll uninstal it and stay with FSX and have lost nothing.

Cause MS's own YT channel is sensored.
The degree of absolute ignorance in these responses is simply appalling. Yes, the Stearman and the ICON A5 are simpler models. The Maule and Vans RV6 are honestly better quality than most of the payware models for FSX. Anyone who is familiar with my payware work know that I'm a lighting junkie. I only *wish* I could adapt the new virtual cockpit lighting to my FSX aircraft models! :)On the other hand, I live in hope that Flight will help pry open wallets for FSX/FS9 again! LOL!

That's not what's going on here. It's just coincidental that all of a sudden we have allot of new people posting, who are all universally on board with Flight to a fault, and have a knowledge of the product that's more than you would expect of a new person (about something unreleased). Another thing is usually a beta team will consist of people that's been around for awhile not a bunch of people we've never seen before who all the sudden show up in these forums and coincidentally their beta team members. Bill Leaming is the only one I know of that's an old timer (I'm sure theirs a few others) on the beta team but the new people who appeared out of no where out weigh the long standing members and they have quite compelling arguments to counter anything one could say about Flight. I want to make it clear that I'm not in any way trying to accuse people of being disingenuous. All I'm saying is I understand the point being made by 'Shivers9'. Many of us in these forums know what it feels like to be labeled, accused, and berated about our motives or who we are. So don't take this the wrong way because without facts it's all speculation and I'm glade we have new member interested in this hobby even if they are pro FLIGHT...
