What's the best of these?

Antarctica X seems pretty good, but my concern with that is just how much flying can be done there--it's not exactly the most widely-traversed area of the globe. Those of you that have the Twin Otter- What are some of its main faults?

Surely the older optics, which can be enhanced a bit with some texture set from here. It's the sharper cockpit textures file. http://forum.aerosof...otter-repaints/Well you don't get much systems with her, but I think the real one is build pretty straightforward, so one of course shouldn't expect to maintain the warp core or something. From the features, you are very close to default planes though and you will find non working VC elements for sure. But the plane itself gets you in and out of everything with plenty of cargo. If Antarctica X isn't you thing (mind Al's tip that the plane is included there, with skis), Anchorage is a nice spot to fly with the small and large birds. But I'd recommend getting UTX Alaska too then, otherwise the default scenery won't set any fires.

Thanks for that CoolP. In fact, having been utterly spoilt by the high calibre of the 737NGX, I do take into context when having just started to use the Twotter what its limitations are. That is not say, it has not given me bags of fun making short flights from Barra's beach runway which is where I first spotted the Twotter and could not believe that I'd be watching a plane land and take off from the beach with other island holidaymakers watching from the bar.

It indeed is fun to fly her. Right you are.I wonder if the Aerosoft folks plan the amphibian variant and some of the very modern cockpit arrangements, which means G1000. But getting some cockpit modelling like in the Bronco with a classic setup would be best I guess. It also leaves a path open for RXP gauges.

(I was wondering when I'd run into you on these forums, CoolP)Anyway, how much is lacking in the Twotter VC? Can you go through at least nearly-complete real-world procedures, or is it all pretty basic?

Better hurry. My choice would be 1. Twotter, 2. Anchorage, 3. anything elseRay

I may be totally wrong, but I'd say the rw procedures are very short. The engines are as robust as the plane, so the basic order of things to start them is 1:1 in my eyes. However, the system background does not model failures or damaging, so you can start her either way. There's no touchy oil pressure to watch and if you over-torque a thing it runs the same way as before, just faster. :lol:But the engine model does rule out the FSX flaw to model the throttle position as the main factor for the sound on turbine planes for example. So your rpm lever has the main influence on how high the sound is pitched. The turbines of course add their high rpm stuff with the power lever, but not like on the default turbine planes like the King Air for instance. So the Twotter is way better in that aspect. If you reduce rpm, the torque goes up. Do that on the default turbine planes and they don't care at all. So, yes, there's some detail. You saw the latest releases like the Bronco coming with a damage model, so treating them the wrong way leads to consequences (if enabled). That's not something to expect here, maybe on the future Twotter though.I think they've even asked the forum folks if they would like to see such items on future Aerosoft planes. I've voted yes. It adds something to the game.

Only the Twotter is available at PC Aviator. Luckily I bought it on a Tuesday and got an additional 10% off so making it a $17.97 buy, which IMHO, was a bargain that could not be passed by.@CoolPWhat I do like about is that Bendix/King transreceiver KX 165A TSO and the KLN-90B GPS navigation systems modelled. Excellent.

When you get totally familiar with the Twotter you can check this out. This is one of my favorite addon, I go back to it often.http://forum.aerosof...-in-twin-otter/Ray
Very neat Ray. Any chance of PM'ng that mod? Thanks. One Q though, does it leave the original Bendix in situ so that if I wanted to go back to it I could?

Sure does. It adds a click spot or two to pop up the avionics stack so you can actualyl make use of it in bouncy conditions on on approaches, etc. It doesn't take anything away, just adds more modern avionics and a few convenience items.Ray

I must admit that I've cheated. :( I've placed my RXP in the Twotter, but mainly because it offers some more features and was darn expensive, so I want to use it everywhere I can.But guess what, as I've loaded her up to check if I'm stating true things about the refined engine model, the flight took a bit longer since it was so much fun to fly her. Did some touch and gos and stuff. Fun thing and I'd recommend her and the Anchorage airport. Best of both worlds and a nice starting point (the seaplane base is modelled too!) for Alaska tours with her.Nice mod up there. :(

Anchorage is an awesome scenery but it is very hard on framerate.
