I THINK I GOT IT NOW! CORRECT?

Ohh yes I agree its not only the techincal quality of the picture what counts , that completely depends on what you want to show.If you want to show a screenshot for its composition , lets say the artistic approach ,you do not need as much definition as when you want to show the tiny details like rivets, scratches and platelines on an airplane.Showing an airplane for its details the plane must be big and filling the screen as much as possible to show those details. As I am a painter I usually publish huge screens to invite the viewers "to stick their nose between the pixels" to see the details and get an impression of the paintwork quality. On a distance of 500 feet most paints look swell, wich is fine, allthough it`s not really possible to get an idea about their quality in detail.RegardsLeen

Sweet, I actually started doing that paint a couple months ago but never posted any preview of it, let alone finished it altogether. Looks nice. :(sig.gif

Very nice

1600x1200 at 250 kb cannot lead to hight quality screens. The big screen in my example is about 2Mb as it is PNG at 100% JPG (uncompressed)it is lighter and nearby the same quality but way over 250Kb..External hosting and showing is the solution.Presenting ( linking!! )on the screenshotforum instead of showing is the answer , I think.Time will tell.Leen
I am sorry but I really have difficulty understanding the rulesImages linked to the forum must be no larger than 1024 pixels wide and no more than 200K bytes in sizeSo how linking can be the solutioon to the size issue?I am lost... :( . I agree with edetroit, it would be simpler if there was only one rule. Excuse me for not being intelligent! :(

The rules are completely clear , nothing to add to that. The way I showed my big ones is not linking the big picture TO the forum , I linked a small one TO the forum and linked the big one ON the forum. The small one is showed on the AVSIM page , the big one can be viewed by clicking the link to another place (not AVSIM) and will be visible in a new screen which has nothing to do with AVSIM.In other words the big one never passes the ASIM server.Lets go back to the screenshots now.Leen

To me and I am sure most others the rules are now not completely clear because they do not include your method.Rather than having to save two different size shots..... one that is way below the avsim size limit (what is the point) and then one that is way over the avsim size limit (in my mind)Just save one that is within the avsim size limits that all of us know .....and if you wish to show "in between the rivets" just zoom in before you take the shot.

What's not to understand, all he's saying is if you want to show images larger then AVSIM allows, use an external non embedded link. That has always been an option here! Some already does that either to show larger images, or to make available more then the 10 image AVSIM limit. The only thing that needs to be done in this case is to have at least one actual image, either uploaded to AVSIM, or an embedded external linked image within AVSIM's rules to keep it legal. Here's an example of onehttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/361649-caribbean-cruising-french-style/

He he yes you understand what I am talking about. The only thing do is, I use a small picture on the forum as a link to the external pictures. That little one could just be a thumb , a thumb however does not show much , so I use a big thumb to give a better idea of what to expect behind the link.Placing a thumb in a link to something external is allowed on all AVSIM pages. My big thumbs are less than 1024 and lighter than 200Kb so there is no conflict with what rule whatsoever.Leen

Lovely shot!
