Featured Replies

Just a simple question for you. What is better REX (with future Essentials) or Active Sky 2012? Thinking of purchasing one soon.ThnxIvan Majetic

Not quite sure how anyone can make a judgement on this until Essentials is released.

AS2012's textures load faster then Rex2.0 or OD. I think REX my have the advantage on amount of textures, but I have not done a real count so I could be mistaken.

I'd wait for Essentials before making the decision. REX said that they originally were going to make Essentials a new program (That means a whole 'nother $30) but instead it's going to be free for REX 2 users... That means, for free, we will have 2 upgrades, Overdrive and Essentials.

How about both? There's textures I like best out of both REX 2 and AS2012. I think AS's runways and water are really good and I like REX's clouds and sky. Stuff like that...

I have had REX from day one and am loyal to them. Essentials is proving to be quite the update based on the info on their forum. As I have not tried ASE, I can't form an oppinion as to the overall quality of their offering. I am comfortable with REX both as an addon and as a company so, as the song goes......"love the one you're with"! Just my own oppinion of course.

How do you install textures from REX, and not have AS2012 overwrite them when installing their specific textures?

If You are into visuals, try both if You can afford. I am opposite to Tabs - water from REX, clouds and sky from AS2012.If You are into weather simulation - AS2012 without a doubt

If you have nothing, buy AS2012 now. It will transform FSX in a way you will find hard to believe. If and when essentials is released, you can decide if there is enough improvement to warrent buying it.

Yeah I don't have any weather addon except the default one which is obviously s**t.
