February 25, 201214 yr It's incredible that the release of A2A's Accu-Feel hasn't been mentioned on the Orbx forum. The mind boggles! Keep your heads down boys! The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

February 25, 201214 yr That's why AVSIM is the best forum and ORBX creates the best sceneries. As it was stated, they are not in the dating business. I'd rather chat and meet new people here anyway. :( MSFS
February 25, 201214 yr It really is pathetic because it is just the sort of product that adds just the sort of realism the folks at ORBX state time and time again is what they are aiming for. February 26, 201214 yr Well, in all honesty: it isn't that weird. The Orbx forum is a support forum now and nothing more. It isn't a home for simmers in general anymore. And I know 'tons' of official support forums where there is only talk about the product of the owner of the forum. Nothing weird with that. I frequent a lot of music forums too and believe me, it's pretty normal to NOT talk about Native Instruments drum software on the Toontrack forum. Advertising Cubase on the Sonar forum isn't appreciated either. Et cetera.I guess some of you still have to get used to it that things have changed: the Orbx forum had become a 'general' flightsim forum over time, but now things have changed and we just have to get used to it (well, the people who still go there).
February 26, 201214 yr I'm with Jeroen, Orbx chose to be a support forum only and there is nothing wrong with that at all, what's wrong with it is the way they chosed to do it, they could have said two or three month ahead of time something like....."Dear forum members, as of **/**/** we will become a support forum only, we will no longer blah blah blah".They chose to become a support forum by p****** some (if not all) of their best customers off, and that's what is not right about whole thing.Don't get me started with the Christmas sale and the way he answered his complaining customers.....To each is own, as for me I'm not bending over backward, I'm not that type.
February 26, 201214 yr I've been out of the loop for many weeks now, been busy with a new job. I didn't realise it had got so bad over there until I just read the post from the link above. What a bunch of crap. Oooops can I say crap on here? I think the guy has a "King" or "God" complex personally, and I'm afraid I'm done with that forum now. No more posting for me. February 26, 201214 yr .. continuing in the same vein - I reckon we should also move start (sorry) a new "PNW Flying Club" over here, too - with Bowerman as the HQ... We have our own TS3 server - perhaps Tom would build our Gamespy server, the same as ZooLander did over at the DigitalThemePark. That would get around the horrible FSHost client, and at the same time giving the reliability and performance native to FSX. This is what makes online flying such an enormous rush. I have already used the TS server in trouble-shooting Avsim users problems, and it's a great tool. :( Edited February 26, 201214 yr by Paul J i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 26, 201214 yr .. continuing in the same vein - I reckon we should also move start (sorry) a new "PNW Flying Club" over here, too - with Bowerman as the HQ... :(Here is what I suggest. Enter the GROUPS area and form a PNW Flying Club Group. Assign a couple of other managers for the Group and post an announcement and link to the Group here. When you have the group set up, you will also have your own forum (a forum is automatically created for each group but they are not visible to non-members). You can invite folks to join, or you can just let them wander through the doors, so to speak. Also, non-members will be able to read the headlines on your Group page and that way you can keep the public and your members appraised of news and events. If you want to get really fancy, we can provide a group it's own calendar as well. Cost? A pint or three the next time one of you are in Charlottesville, VA, home FBO of AVSIM.We set up the groups system for clubs and organizations just like this.(EDIT: we can also provide a special library area just for clubs too, but that will cost someone five pints). :(
February 26, 201214 yr The "PNW FC" was kind-of tongue-in-cheek, Tom, but it led me into thinking about my personal experience with the OrbX FC months ago when it originally took flight. It amounted to nothing but about ten subforums concerned with "add your flight plans here, and "flying tonight at 2200" and then "we're building our own server" which went on for months and months. If the IT dept I worked for couldn't build a server within four/five days - we would be out on our ear. And then the birthdays... There never was a PNW Flying Club. The online answer - for me - came about through the Digital Theme Park group ( ts3.digitalthemepark.com ), run by ZooLander - Todd Lear. This group has a pretty good, and growing bunch of flyers, with a number of subgroups- including the enormous 91st Bombardment Group replica of the real-world group.(http://www.91stbombardmentgroup.com/ ) Todd initially used FSHost, running organized flights in and around the PNW, and up into Canada as NRM was released. This was a success, only tarnished by the use of FSHost. He then built a GameSpy machine with its' own IP, which solved the 'jerkiness', and was able to run a number of simultaneous flights. This sufficed until the 91st came along, and necessitated the building of a second server to handle the extra load, and provide separation of timezones. I believe this endeavor is now quite successful, though I haven't been there for a few weeks.I'm not asking or suggesting that Avsim provide a Gamespy server, Tom - I have no idea what the resources are; I was merely pondering where these things can go. It's gratifying that you were good enough to provide a TS server, and for that you have my thanks! We have set up our own TeamSpeak as you know, and Todd and we are discussing colaboration. Well, truth be told, he's waiting to hear from us about what we consider "collaboration" to be. Fact of the matter is that we'll do whatever the community wants and that makes sense to us. All we need is a community brain trust to give us suggestions. :(
